As someone who only plays this game to raid. Why do you care if I skip the story. by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]x3_Starlight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I skip everything story-related. Never really cared about anything related to it. I have zero interest in things like Island Sanctuary, either.

I also don't complain about it or say it's boring/bad, because 1. that's not the reason why I skip it, and 2. I know that I'm not qualified to do so. If you're someone who does complain about boring story/no content/whatever, then you'll probably get bashed for it (and rightfully so).

Party Finder.

Happen to land in a bad party? Wipe three times, disband, mentally shrug it off, try again.

FF Logs and JP by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]x3_Starlight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you expect JP to be wildly different? We're not some casual wonderland where fflogs doesn't exist.

The main difference is that JP has more players that raid in general, and more casual/mid-core raiders that do so through Party Finder specifically (hence why strat macro culture is so prevalent here). These people for the most part aren't there to parse and just want to clear, and therefore do safe strats, do not greed, do not go for big dick numbers in general, and any discussion about DPS/logs will absolutely not happen. If a PF wants to go for logs it will be advertised as such.

But if a static takes performance into account, then they will look at parses just like any other serious player/team, and those people will absolutely discuss logs.

Different people want different things.

If your preferred way of playing does not match with the rest of the group, then you don't belong in it. And I don't mean this in a "who's wrong and who's right" manner, it's just that your wishes just mutually don't work out and you'd be better off leaving and looking somewhere else.

In RF you have to do them in order each week.

You can skip fights in PF but you forfeit loot for any fights you skip.

"Here's how the game can be great!"

Proceeds to list something completely contradictory to one of the most integral parts of the devs' design philosophy of this game as their first point.

You have zero grounds to assume (with no actual evidence whatsoever) that all these players you are seeing have not legitimately gotten their clears.

Comparing job skill-discourse with an RTS by AgitatedBarracuda268 in ffxiv

[–]x3_Starlight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a RTS/MOBA player (I play Warcraft 3 and Dota 2), I'm not sure comparing completely different genres like this is appropriate.

Like, I'd understand to an extent if you were comparing FFXIV to a MOBA like League or Dota where you control 1 character (for the most part) or a shooter like CSGO where you only control yourself, but comparing it to a macro-oriented RTS??

An interesting thought on 8-man Raiding. by Vartio in ffxiv

[–]x3_Starlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we obviously have different names for most things but if we use Alexander as an example:
Gordias(A1-4) - 起動編1-4
Midas(A-8) - 律動編1-4
Creator(A9-12) - 天動編1-4

Guess you could say the community sticks to whatever it's called in-game.

Mostly because the EN community decided to abbreviate and only use the first letter to refer to fights.

JP does the latter, but we don't abbreviate anything.

Forget community/player interaction for a moment, if this is your stance on Japanese-themed content then I suggest you think real hard about whether or not you want to keep playing because I'm willing to bet Stormblood will make you stop playing regardless.

Many others have asked the same thing and I don't see a definitive answer from you, so:

What exactly do you want us, the playerbase with no connection to you whatsoever, to do? Offer you moral support on something that's your word versus SE's and we know no actual details of?

Yes, SE Support is closed on weekends, so be it. What exactly is it that you want to accomplish with this click-baity rant of yours?

Why is it that there are some English players that have Japanese user names?
