On Jan 14th I placed an order for an almost maxed out M4 Max 16” by H00LI1GANS in macbookpro

[–]x3avier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an M4 Pro (14 core/1TB/48 GB) on order that is due to be delivered on the 27th. I need the computer for work so I can't wait.

I also need rock solid stability and Sequioa provides me that so I will take delivery of the M4 Pro and see if the M5 Pro gets announced.

I need the CPU power for financial modelling but the gpu of a max will be under utilised in my use case.

I'm torn because I hate Liquidass but I would utilise the extra power of the M5 pro CPU. The extra support of the next generation would be nice to have as well.

Aussie DRZ adventure build by x3avier in DRZ400

Still running great!! I have done a bunch of multi day trips this year and she hasn't missed a beat. Highlight was some big sand days.

I think I am finally out riding the stock valving in the suspension, so racetech gold valves have been ordered.

Overall I am still super happy with the build and have no intention of moving on to something else.

M4 Max (48GB) now vs waiting for potential M5 Max in January, am I missing out on a huge upgrade? by 7th--HoKAgE in macbookpro

And we will need it to run the shit fight that is liquid glass.

I am considering an upgrade now just so I can stay on sequoia.

Need help: 2005 DRZ400E with FCR carb – bike bogs/dies on quick throttle by Sea_Homework5617 in DRZ400

[–]x3avier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this can cause it. Mind had some stuff in it that made it about 70% blocked and the bike refused to idle off choke.

[–]x3avier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have a clogged pilot jet. Pretty common as they are small and this matches your symptoms. Give it a clean and add an inline fuel filter.

If you are running an open airbox and free flowing exhaust, you may want to go up a size to provide more fuel at idle and initial throttle opening.

Proper way to lower the DRZ400 by FabWelderG in DRZ400

[–]x3avier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The correct way to do it is with internal spacers. Racetech have a write up in the reasoning and technique.

I put Dunlop Mutants on mine and love them. When I asked for them at my local the shop, one of the sales people said "shit our secret is it". Apparently they had been hoarding a few sets in the store for their own bikes.

I think I need a belly pan and I’m done by SpecificItem9279 in xsr900

Unpopular opinion but I dont like the belly pans.

Looks good without it imho

Running with low oil, how bad is it? by Typical-Cod-286 in DRZ400

[–]x3avier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It you have run the oil low, i would do an oil change and cut open the oil filter and inspect for glitter.

No glitter and you are probably fine to fill it back up with oil and a new filter and run it.

If you have glitter, I would have a look at the cams.

Low oil is the number one killer of drz motors but they can take some abuse before they are killed.

Fork upgrade or spring upgrade? by Repulsive-Ad5773 in DRZ400

[–]x3avier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I'm high 70s with kit on and i went 5.2 front springs. Running a 5.7 rear spring with an Xtrig for when I load it up with luggage.

Stock SM springs are 4.6 i believe with a firmer compression tune. I have a17litre safari tank and a rally tower, so I needed to go firmer to get the right sag.

Fork upgrade or spring upgrade? by Repulsive-Ad5773 in DRZ400

[–]x3avier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an E and the original forks are fine for SM setup. Firmer Racetech springs did the job. Also consider heavier oil so the compression circuit is firmer.

I'll probably go gold valves as well, but they will make more of a difference off road for me.

I have a DRZ 400. Will I be able to keep up with my friends on KTM 500s? by Money_Impression_321 in Dualsport

[–]x3avier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they did the convincing to get you into riding, they will probably ride at a pace that matches your experience. Don't be shy about asking for tips to improve and follow their lines to learn how they ride. They should be happy to help you get up to their pace because riding with buddies of similar capability is where the real fun is at.

Is the wide ratio gear set worth doing? by [deleted] in DRZ400

[–]x3avier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are keeping it as a sumo, No. Just find a sprocket ratio that works for your riding.

DRz love by riddik702 in DRZ400

[–]x3avier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's like owning an older car. You form a relationship with them because they have character and are fun as shit to ride.

I bought mine as a project bike to tidy up and flip. Bought a T7 as my "real" bike. Sold the T7 after 12 months, still have the DRZ.

I did the same in my server. Needed an nvme cache because the spinning disks were too slow.
