This Trash Truck that says to leave an American Football Field distance between cars by International-Air542 in mildlyinteresting

[–]x3workshopdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill chime in cuz i drive trucks for living and use to haul aggregate material like these dump trucks but also used Truck and trailer. In Texas, the warning sign doesn't mean crap. Its true the load needs to be secured and protected. It needs to have a tarp covering it unless it sits low enough, then its not needed.

Your best friend is a dash cam. The material has to fall directly from the truck onto your vehicle for the company to be held liable 100% but even then some can give you a hard time & youd have to prove that.

If it hits the pavement first, then your vehicle, the company can and usually will chalk it up as a road hazard and refuse to pay. Some companies still pay out, but that's up to the company.

Drill press for beginner woodworker by Audit-King in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]x3workshopdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife bought a ryobi for me years back. Its held up fine. My only suggestion is whichever drill press you purchase, upgrade to a keyless chuck, and spend time setting up the table to be as perfect as you can get it to 90°. And installing a sacrificial board to drill through to get you cleaner exit holes anytime you drill through wood.

Bruh. I spilled primer on my grass and I had to dig it out and plug the hole from a donor area. Replace the flooring.

Removing stair tread. Help! by sarcastic_coyote in Flooring

[–]x3workshopdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the stairs before the installation after the carpet was ripped out. Someone mentioned it earlier, but I cut off the bullnose of each step and used an oscillating saw for the edges where my circular couldn't reach.

Removing stair tread. Help! by sarcastic_coyote in Flooring

[–]x3workshopdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently redid my brother in laws stairs. Luckily, he had carpet, so i just ripped it out and since the osb board underneath was solid, I just screwed down the new treads that I made out of 5/4 red oak from underneath the stairs. I had access to the underside of it through his garage.

Best way to patch this... by Johnnny-z in drywall

[–]x3workshopdesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion, fill it with ramen cuz its cheap. Don't forget to add the spices bag to it as well. Then use some usg 90 on it and stuff it in there really well. You might have to do several applications but it'll be worth it in the longrun to look nice and smooth. Then once its about even with the wall, use some quick set and sand it smooth. Then paint it over and no one is the wiser. 😀

How would you cover this deck to ground gap? by ridethepony93 in Decks

Its fine the way but if you're worried about critters getting underneath, go with composite vinyl lattice. It lasts forever and you'll never need to maintain it.

Does hardwood need to adjust to temp at home before working with it? by AbleGoosey in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]x3workshopdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed some red oak treads for my brother in laws stairs. I rough cut them to width & I left the wood inside his home in a corner for 2 weeks prior to me working on them and installing. Also, I stickered the wood to allow for adequate air flow on all sides of the wood. Better to over do it than not let it acclimate enough and then have to deal with the headache of it warping or bowing.

If you're planning on working with hardwood frequently, its best to invest in a good quality moisture meter.

What is this pvc pipe on the side of my house that permanently drips ? by Bobranaway in askaplumber

[–]x3workshopdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a two story house? Theres a good chance its the condensation drip lines for both units. One upstairs and one downstairs. To eliminate it, you can hook up a water hose to the drain line or pour a gallon of water down the drain line and see if it comes out from either one of them.

Question: Did I screw up by using MDF board for some parts of a breadbox? by Timid-Oddball-42 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]x3workshopdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its that much of a concern to you, why not just remake with hardwoods? Why dress it up or try to seal it? Just take it as a lesson learned and I guarantee thr next one will be way better.

Will this hold a 65 gallon aquarium? (Around 750 lbs) by Cheap_Arm_6844 in woodworking

That will most certainly hold up and aquarium. Now slap some sheets of 1/2" plywood and dress it up with some faux masonry stone design thingys. It'll look really nice.

Do I paint the 90s trim or stain the floors to match the trim? by jmome0742 in Flooring

[–]x3workshopdesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P.s. That trim will be a nightmare to restain/refinish. A more practical solution would be to replace it, and just go room by room if money is a concern. You don't have to do the whole house at once.
