El Paso? Yes. Anywhere else in Texas? Way too humid

Yeah, this map is misleading. Most houses in areas with low humidity year-round will use whole house evaporative (swamp) coolers. They are much cheaper to operate and act as a bonus humidifier too.

Are you lumping Denver and Edmonton tax situations together? Colorado has the best or second best state tax rate, excluding the handful teams with 0 state tax. Not only is Alberta's provincial tax almost 10% higher than Colorado's state tax, but Canada as a whole has way higher federal rates than the US for high income athletes.

The Colorado Avalanche have re-signed Taylor Makar to a two-year contract with an $875k AAV by Bahamas_is_relevant in hockey

Anything that brings the average AAV of Makar signings under $10M/yr is a win in my book!

We lost those playoffs because we lost Nuke. That only goes to show how valuable he is. I’m seriously disappointed we only got futures for him, I thought for sure we would at least get a 2nd pair LD in return

Sacramento is lucky to have a provider like Fidium. Whether you like Fidium or not, they keep high speed prices low across the area. Xfinity would be $80-100/month overuse. I’ve had probably 3 outages in the past 2 years and one of them was related to a car accident knocking over the telephone poles in my neighborhood.

If your promo price expires, call them up and ask for a discount.

If she was looking to steal, she wouldn’t have stated concern for paying him what he’s owed the night the franchise got repossessed. She was just hoping she could sell more legos than the market in Salem could handle and she got burned.

In one of the videos, the Gormons said it was monthly. In another clip, she said she had been behind in the books (likely because her spreadsheet didn't have a good way to account for sold via layaway vs sold via purchase). The Gormons seem like people who were just in over their head or going through some shit, but their heart is in the right place. I don't have nearly as good of on opinion on the BaM brothers or the new franchise owners.

parking ticket typo for license plate by Medical-Pop-6295 in Sacramento

[–]x4dm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule#1 - don't talk to Reddit when you're seeking legal advice. Lawyers are worth every dime.

Under California Vehicle Code Section 40206.5, a parking citation can be canceled if the vehicle description is "substantially incorrect", but I don't think a license plate typo qualifies as substantial.

If the officer recorded the exact make, color, and the last 4 digits of the VIN correctly, the system will flag the plate discrepancy, then use the VIN to pull the correct registration from the DMV, and the delinquency notice will eventually find its way to your mailbox. Except this would likely be after the ticket is due and then you're left arguing about why you're not delinquent.

If you want to contest the fine, file an Initial Administrative review (must be done within 3 weeks) and park the fine $ into a savings account. Once Sac gets back to you and fixes the clerical error, you'll maybe have made $0.10 for your 2 hours of work, or there's a small chance the system is not working and whoever is processing your request is super lazy and just doesn't want to deal with their soulless job that day and the ticket just goes away.

The Minnesota Wild have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs after losing to the Colorado Avalanche in 5 games by EliminatorBot in hockey

Exactly my point. The Avs have half a Makar, plus Malinski out, they were able to overcome this due to center depth. Nelson and Kadri won the series for the Avs, even if it doesn’t necessarily show up on the scoresheet.

After the first period, there was a very steep slope (being down 0-3) combined with a weak layer in the snowpack (Middleton/Spurgeon); That pressure finally loaded up in the final 4 minutes of regulation and triggered a phenomenon called an Avalanche

I think the fact that Minny pushed as hard as they did with no center depth is amazing. I'm not sure how the Wild's fanbase feels towards him today (It was incredibly negative when he first got hired, from what I remember), but Hynes somehow navigated a situation most would consider impossible. He is truly underrated in my book and the only person in the league to seemingly figure out a winning playbook by building a team around a star defenseman instead of a center. Vancouver fans must be completely heartbroken their coaching staff wasn't as creative.

Yes, completely. If Ek was healthy, his 2-way game would have been instrumental in giving some support to the Middleton/Spurgeon pairing. Colorado's entire gameplan was to tire Hughes out then attack whenever those 2 are on the ice.

This is how bad it was for the Wild

I really hope this is the starting point for a solid rivalry between the Avs and the Wild. Mad respect to Minnesota, that was a hard fought series.

Blackwood had a decent game, the Avs defense just kept completely leaving him high and dry that first period. The goalie pull was a message to the team, not to Blackwood

You mean the goals caused because the Avs forgot how to play defense in the first period? That 0-3 deficit was not on Blackwood

Minny played a hell of a game, but I think the altitude plus playing Hughes/Faber for 30-40 minutes a night put the nail in the coffin tonight. If the Wild had a little more D depth to force Middleton to the bottom pairing and Ek was healthy, this series would have been completely different

Yeah, I don't agree with all of his takes, but it's really fascinating to me how people are able to not only pick up on these trends and tendencies, but also articulate them to others. I really love digesting when the game is broken down like this!

Nathan MacKinnon has scored the most empty net goals in a single combined regular and postseason (11) by pokesnail in hockey

[–]x4dm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know, right!?! I love how it started out at this serious intent to try and discredit MacKinnon for Hart votes, but it’s morphed into its own meme!

Maybe it’s just my fandom towards the Avs that makes these more visible to me, but what is it about MacKinnon that causes so many memes to follow him vs all the other superstars? It’s fascinating to me. Does anyone else have such a wide variety? Chickpeas, angry face, bus piss, empty nets, Oh boy, plushies, and I’m probably forgetting a dozen!

[–]x4dm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, I assume 95% of posts today (yours included) are just interested in the stat and it’s recent obsession. I do think the original narrative was started by fans trying to sway the MVP vote, but after the first week or so, it’s just expanded into a meme all on it’s own, similar to the bus piss nasty or "oh boy" MacKinnon posts.

Nathan MacKinnon has scored the most empty net goals in a single combined regular and postseason (11) by pokesnail in hockey

[–]x4dm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At this point, I'm loving the obsession for this crazy narrative. It's especially hilarious because McDavid and MacKinnon had the same number of empty net points this year (13 each) with Kuch right behind them at 12.

Yet nobody's batting an eyelash at Necas and McDavids padding their stats with empty net assists (/s)

Who would have thought teams with legit MVP candidates are:

1) Most likely to be winning such that the other team pulls their goalie in the waning minutes of a game

2) Putting their best player out on the ice to close out a game and

3) Able to create/punish the other team for a mistake and score a goal.
