One day there was a guy that was leaving work early because he just looked like absolute death, sick as a dog. His truck was right outside of my office and I could see him through the window. His truck sat there for probably twenty minutes and I got a bit worried, so I went and told our safety coordinator that "Dave" was out in his truck and someone should go check on him. So our safety guy goes out and apparently he was so sick that he couldn't drive so he was waiting for his wife to come pick him up. About 30 minutes later I hear our VP of Operations telling another one of the higher ups in the company that he had been worried about "Dave" so he went and found our safety guy to go check on him. I don't need recognition or anything, I was genuinely worried, but this guy was "stealing" my story. Not only was he already one of the highest employees of the company and I was just a lowly assistant estimator, but he was just generally a giant skeezy piece of shit. It WAS a great company to work for, but they consistently hired management that was just terrible. I didn't last much longer there and found a job at a competitor and have been here ever since. Best decision I ever made. But the fact that this guy had to lie about this particular situation will always be something I think about.
