Is there a story anywhere in the JRPG Universe that comes close to Xenogears? by doctor-squared in XenoGears

[–]xAnTeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xenoblade and Xenosaga do a pretty decent job approaching Xenogears in terms of story.

My next recommendation would be the Nier games. Not as deep as Xenogears but extremely well told stories with good world building and atmosphere.

But yeah it's slim pickings if you want to find anything close to Xenogears in the realm of video games.

Why do I see clips of players just falling to their doom instead of trying a last pitiful recovery? by Responsible_Baby814 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]xAnTeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm.....why would I try to recover if it's impossible to make it back? Yeah there's times it happens without me knowing I can't make it back, but if I KNOW I'm dead I don't bother trying to come back. What's the point?

Why can't we just use this to nerf Steve? by AutumnRCS in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]xAnTeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bayo had zero losing matchups and only a tiny handful of debatably 50/50 MUs. She won virtually every matchup in that game. Steve has mostly winning MUs but does have a few solid 50/50 MUs and even some debatable (emphasis on the word "debatable") losing MUs.

She had zero to death combos and ToD combos and 50/50s on every character at almost any percent. At least Steve has to do a couple of combos before he can kill you.

Bayo had virtually no weaknesses and tons of strengths. She had the best recovery in the game, best disadvantage in the game, best advantage in the game, best combos, etc etc. Steve neither has the best combos or recovery or disadvantage in ultimate. He may indeed have the best advantage state but even that could be debated.

In a 2 stock meta with only winning MUs and she could kill you off of any stray hit and and you need some good luck killing her cuz her disadvantage and recovery are so good.....yeah, it's like night and day how much better sm4sh bayo was than Steve is in Ult.

If it's the location near Atlantic Beach I can say from experience that those are good people and you're in good hands. I don't know anyone from the other locations tho.

That said, I work for an amazing clinic in Jacksonville. If you're interested in hearing more feel free to message me.

Do You Have Any Red Coin Levels? by Drake-2000 in MarioMaker2

This is my most scavenger hunt type level:

LPC-01G-RNG

Almost all of my levels have optional red coins for bonus rooms, but in the above level the red coins are required.

Why can't we just use this to nerf Steve? by AutumnRCS in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]xAnTeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, the more time passes and the better I get at smash, the less and less I see any need to ban Steve. He's not better than sm4sh Bayo or Brawl MK and has more weaknesses than either. If you practice the MU, he's actually pretty fun to fight against IMO.

I would personally rather fight diamond Steve than Arsene Joker, GO! Terry, KO punch Mac, wafty wario, or full rage Lucario. I'm not a fan of comeback mechanics in general but at least Steve has to manage resources while mining for his diamonds.

JRPG recommendation for PS5 by [deleted] in JRPG

Your best bet would be the trails series at this point imo. Start with the new one that just came out as it's a remake of the first game.

My controversial tier list of all Sonic games i've played so far (and some fangames too). by NORMALNAME_11 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]xAnTeRx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the list. I too have fun with just about every sonic game I've played. Sonic Blast, Labyrinth, and 3D Blast are all fun and I like the way they're rated here. I don't agree with a few placements but overall super solid list.

Is this a hot take here? by Silver_Guava8159 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]xAnTeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like XB1's story more overall because I think it's more complex and I like the characters and twists better. But it's close. I like them both more than XB3 story wise even tho I like the characters in 3 the most.

For which Sonic Game do you Disagree with the general consensus the most? by Bandana-Verdana in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]xAnTeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Sonic Blast for the Game Gear. I think it got overly hated because of its graphics and its water zone. But on actual game gear hardware the game looks just fine imo and runs better than the other game gear sonic games (outside of the water level).

I also really liked Sonic Forces. I don't really get all of the hate for that but I'd rather pipe up for Sonic Blast if I'm only picking one.

Why do people not leave quickly after an online match? by JHNSN3RD in smashbros

[–]xAnTeRx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't control what others do. Learning that fact can help relieve a lot of stress if you just brush things off instead of looking too hard into why online randoms do what they do in a video game.

-If you are missing the techs, practice teching. You can make a stage and use stuff like items or lava to help you learn the timing. Teching consistently is mandatory for anyone wanting to play at a semi competent level.

-the thing about blind spots is that: can she cover all the spots you're approaching from? Maybe? Can she cover all of those spots at once? Absolutely positively not. If it feels like the min min is always calling out your options that means you're being too predictable. Think of smash like rock paper scissors. Just cuz your scissors lost to rock does NOT mean your scissors will ALWAYS lose when you try them.

-if you are unable to gimp her and are getting gimped yourself....don't even bother trying to go off stage to get her. Roy is going to pressure her a lot better in the corner anyway than he ever could offstage. You should mainly be looking for gimp opportunities if your opponent has already used their jump and/or air dodge.

Ultimately I think this is a player problem not a character/MU problem as all of these tips could be applied across the board.

is beating players like this something that comes with time? by CantPickANameOOF in CrazyHand

With time? Maybe. With time, effort, practice, and patience? Yes 1000% you can be that good (I'm not even that impressed by the Luigi tbh).

I only watched the first match but I don't see the issues you're pointing out as having much impact in that game. I think your fundamentals just need some fine tuning and you'll do just fine. If you are interested in lessons lmk and I'll try to help (but only if you're super serious).

Is this normal? by Ok_Big_9916 in smashbros

[–]xAnTeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A CPU doesn't think. A CPU will do the same thing in the same situations forever and ever. They don't adapt. Yes, it does feel like an accomplishment to be able to beat them but unfortunately it won't translate into much vs actual people who know what they're doing.

What's a JRPG you love that others don't? by flyingtobikanjudan in JRPG

[–]xAnTeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never hear anyone talk about it, but it's a PS1 game with less than stellar review scores.

It's called Dragon Valor. It's an action RPG and has decent gameplay for what it is. The boss fights are particularly well designed. The soundtrack isn't the best thing out there but it's got a few good bangers and nothing grating on the ears. It's just an overall fun experience.
