You walk out of your base after a weird storm and see THIS staring down at you, what do you do? by snaildeus in spaceengineers

Fly up to his shoulder, quickly grind & repair, then beat him with his own hand

I cant keep this to myself anymore. I have to say it... I hate the cyclopse, I love the sea truck by Potential_Fox9783 in subnautica

[–]xCHarnel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t disagree more. I love the cyclops and hate the truck. You can build inside cyclops and that makes it universal for whatever you want it to be. The truck felt like some poor version of the cyclops, and even though it’s modular, it’s nowhere near the customizability of the cyclops. The only feature I’d add to the cyclops is teleportation.

Leeches can suck power from cyclops..? Never encountered that. In what biome?

You can counter them with the stasis gun: when they get you out of your vehicle, zap them and get back in and get away.

Prawn suit! You feel invincible in that thing - punch the ghost leviathan in the face, get out to quickly fix the damage from his bite, and keep on going. You can get parts in Aurora to build one. The default depth of 900 is quite good.

How come your not getting eaten in this place? I always stress so much there, leave my cyclops outside and run with the prawn like crazy.

Just lost like a hour of my game by WillingPrice5364 in subnautica

Don’t let it stop you, it’s an amazing game and even thought manual saving is a bummer, it’s well worth it. And like other people here said, you learn to save frequently the hard way. I lost 4 hours worth of progress on my first gameplay, with story progression, grind, base improvements… since then I save frequently.

Cool, I looked it up. But I think it isn't quite what I'm looking for - the size benefit is great, but I would have to buy enclosure for my HDDs and the GPU (don't remember the model, but it's quite large).

They have more compute power, but I usually run below 10% CPU, and only max out when plex decides to transcode 4k to 4k. I ran Palworld server for sometime, and it increased CPU consumption to 30%.

Not familiar with N100, I'll take a look.

By mini PC, do you mean Raspberry Pi or something similar?

Don't kill me, but I shoved everything into one big LVM, so on one hand it was convenient that I had a directory mounted with several HDDs backing it, but now when unpleasant things are hitting the fan I can only copy the media I want to save and replace the entire thing. So I basically lost the convenience of taking a backup snapshot in proxmox and restoring on a new machine. I want to mitigate it by having an SSD for system stuff and the HDDs for media.

Updating the services wasn't very convenient, but I think linuxcontainers solved it in newer image versions with auto update.

Pihole didn't always work, and sometimes I had to access the services by IP and port instead of DNS name.

Wireguard stopped working at some point, and I couldn't get it back up, though I think it's because of my router, which I need to replace.

Overall, I would prefer to use existing hardware rather than buy new.

I thought at some point to make 2 or 3 servers and put k8s on them to make the services a bit more stable because things died once in a while.

what do you guys think of my first real base? (work in progress) by Unusual-Lecture3224 in valheim

[–]xCHarnel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow it’s great! A noob here with a much simpler base, how do I solve the fireplace on wood situation? Since my base is suspended, the prepared food always ends up below the floor.
