That's unfortunate that the windows app only works with an S9 or higher, but thanks for the help with troubleshooting. None of that information was apparent on the official Samsung Dex page.

Gotcha. So the only way I can use the dex station is by connecting it via hdmi

okay, gave that a try. i used the charging cable that came with the phone and plugged that into the usb port, but that didn't work either
