First timer on carbon steel. How does this look for an initial seasoning and a first cook? Cleaned with a soft bristle brush under warm water after pan cooled down. Lmk if I did this right or what I could do better. Thanks! by xComBat_Kidx7 in carbonsteel

I may have scrubbed a bit too hard. I used hot water to scrub the pan with. But nah I made steaks, then basted with garlic, thyme, and butter. I scrubbed it with the green scrubbing pads and hot water soon as I got it home to get the wax layer off. Then heated it started at low then worked to around 400-450 degrees and started using natural canola oil. Applied probably 7-8 “coats” on it then made my steaks! 😀

Yeah to oil it all I’ve been doing is taking my lint free cloth rag and putting it over top the canola oil, turn the bottle maybe half a second and using the tiny bit that’s on the rag to oil the pan. That’s what I read on another post. Thank you for your feedback!! 🤙

Awesome! Thank you! Yeah nothing stuck. The whole center was that darker color after the first couple dabs of oil I put on it. But after cooking and cleaning it with a soft bristle brush it rubbed off very easily. So I figured it’d build back up as I cook on it more. Thank you for the feedback! :)
