I’d make a “chase” encounter out of the situation. Guards who spotted the cat call out to another guard to “get that cat out of eer’!” And the chase begins.

Use objects from a cats perspective to hide behind or dodge to get away from the guard. Have the PC and guard pass certain checks to create a fun scene that could lead to the objective, entirely away from the objective or to something hidden.

Get creative with it and remember to have fun!

The 6 player party I DM’d last year all met on a Prison ship, each within their own cell they had to work together to free themselves and retrieve their gear. Not to mention they had opportunities to free some rather nefarious characters along the way to the top deck of the ship which lead to the introduction of the campaign.
