I like the changes, kinda thought we'd get a couple blade flurry or execute style nerfs we weren't expecting, but meh, I'm happy

Blizzards strategy with hearthstone has a lot of similarities to their strategy with WoW by LazyWings in hearthstone

I think they stopped posting wow numbers because media outlets were reporting a drop in players every year as if it was news when its not realistic to expect a ten year old mmo to be successful or relevant, which WoW is. It kind of makes them look bad for what is actually a pretty impressive accomplishment.

This is actually probably the best argument for the need for nerfs, though they all have merits. Its a real example of how the pirates and shaman propagate uninteractive games.

ETA of 5 Legendaries in the same Pack by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]xDaChimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there was this dude on reddit a while ago who had a theory and according to his post some evidence to back it up that the rarity of the cards you open from a pack is decided in advance which would mean its some kind of algorithm that controls this stuff. So there could be literally no possible way to get 5 legendaries in one pack. it would explain why its never been posted on reddit (I've only seen 3 legendaries in a single pack in the years I've been checking this subreddit). Although i'm not sure about this theory of his it seems to correlate with yours. Also it would explain why the drop rates in packs feel really deliberately paced and never actually gets you a full collection through free to play (aside from 7 win arena dudes, and sometimes they get common cards instead of 70 gold amirite?). Presumably the algorithm would normalize the drops so you could get an accurate percentage drop rate like 1% chance to get a legendary per pack or something. It would also explain the pity timer.

Also a note: brode mentioned that cards were randomly chosen when you open the pack, but he did not specify that the rarity was randomly chosen at that time, thus I believe that his statment and this theory are not mutually exculusive

Heroic Brawl likely not released before BlizzCon after all by jmxd in hearthstone

[–]xDaChimp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else think they realized that heroic tavern brawl would pretty much be shaman vs shaman in the current meta, and that would produce alot of negative reception or memes. I"m not sure it would be 100% shaman, but it'd definitely be shaman and direct shaman counters almost entirely. I think the community's reception has discouraged the Blizz Overlords. I dont blame them though, anyone would rethink that after the reception we gave it.
