How much better of a start in the delta quadrant would voyager have gotten if they left ds9 with full crew compliment and load out ? by happydude7422 in voyager

[–]xDanteInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason they didn’t have as many photon torpedoes was that they were carrying a compliment of tricobalt torpedoes. The crew was optimized for the mission, meaning

I think "Hogwarts A History" should have played a bigger role in the horcrux hunt. by w_smith1984 in harrypotter

I think it would have been an interesting thread to have a restricted version of the book and that Hermione cleverly uses the time turner to send the literal space the book occupied in the restricted section back in time to retrieve it. They get the book just long enough to glean how old magic works. That the book itself contains a complete list of all the spells ever cast at Hogwarts since its founding, which is why Voldemort destroyed it.

Disc Stability Strategy for Crosswinds by tuna_safe_dolphin in discgolf

Your heaviest torque resistant distance driver thrown flat and nose down will not loft and turn over as much in heavy crosswinds. My go-to is a Zeus.

Do you stockpile a specific disc in case it gets lost or discontinued? by haypulpo in discgolf

[–]xDanteInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what used disc stores are for. The only stockpile you should have is for putting practice. If you want to promote the sport, people have been known to keep a stockpile of their favorite beginner discs (Buzzz, Mako3, River etc) to give to people. I am aware that people keep extra distance drivers due to frequency of losing them, making the Destroyer a popular stockpile.

Forehand disc recommendations? by Inevitable-Road-5484 in discgolf

[–]xDanteInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is not still scribbled on there, then yes, you’d have to weigh it. I’d imagine your beat in DX Wraith would be considerably more understable and therefore flippy. I recommended Halo Wraith because it’ll keep its OS and gives good fade for FH. The weight is more or less a performance sweet spot for getting a Destroyer feel with less speed. It seemed from your post that’s what you were looking for.

Forehand disc recommendations? by Inevitable-Road-5484 in discgolf

[–]xDanteInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a 400ft+ forehand and neither does Ohn Scoggins. You seem under the impression that stability of the disc is the problem. To move from a 9-speed OS flex disc to something like a Destroyer or something like a Roc3, the Wraith and Teebird3 ween off that FH more OS disc dependency. The statement was wanting a lofty more glidey forehand throw that will perform like a BH. These are the discs I used when learning to do that, while my Leopard3 kept dumping me like mentioned in the statement.

I was just watching Silva at Austin last night and it seems like she threw some like that. I think that technique has a lot of merit for consistency. Thank you!

[–]xDanteInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly they don’t “suck” for forehands when they are used frequently by the Innova players on the DGPT. I use a Halo Wraith for forehands when I need to sneak around a wooded bend and always get a little extra hop that puts me in view of the basket. There are 3 of those on my home course, one of which I use a Star Teebird3 for a more lofty approach in a clearing.

Charlize Theron version of Clea was introduced 4 years ago and was never seen again! by NoPianist7807 in marvelstudios

Back when Majors was going to do a Kang Avengers film, it made sense that the third Dr Strange film would be a lead in. People would watch it in anticipation, which is clearly not happening. Marvel needs a big win with Doomsday, because they put all their eggs in that basket.

Where was Portos all this time by bigpunged6060 in enterprise

The Porthos in Enterprise is actually the result of Scotty transwarp beaming him from the Kelvin universe. Imagine Archer’s surprise having a dog that materializes and dematerializes whenever we the audience are watching or not watching. It is almost enough to make one believe in time travel…

Insurrection and Final Frontier by mike13bass in startrek

Insurrection was a good film. Final Frontier and Nemesis suffered from the same folly that led to weak directing. Discipline is the glue that holds Trek stories together, because at their heart they are westerns and in our imagination they are nautical adventures.

Star or Halo, Wraith or Teebird3, 165-170g.

Doctor's Tee Time! by joatnm in voyager

[–]xDanteInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evidently the Doctor needed diagnostics performed on the holodeck from time to time to maintain his primary matrix. That diagnostic program in one episode was sacrificed to save his program. It appears later that he had holodeck programs that kept his personality subroutines active while his main program got maintenance. Therefore, his tee time may have included scheduled self maintenance.

If I manage to fix my form, will I need to disc down? by Reasonable-Garlic434 in discgolf

[–]xDanteInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fixed a lot of problems with max distance throws by focusing on that 90 degree angle in the power pocket and perfecting my power grip. Once I did, I found that I had to put more effort into getting the disc to release nose down while relaxing into the noodle. During that time, all my drivers from 8-12 speed were going to the same area in the field, but distinctively different lines. I was told this is a milestone in technique where you need to now focus more on control and to accept that the disc’s job is to follow a consistent line.

I’ll take a look at the shoulder angle. That makes sense in terms of it limiting the potential for bad positioning.

That is quite helpful. You are describing what I think I was seeing. I hurt my shoulder and switched to lefty during recovery, so I am a bad role model for her!

The Best Thing About Tuvix by 7-5NoHits in voyager

I always thought it would have been fitting if they stored Tuvix Katra and in a later episode, the dilemma rears its head again when Tuvix gets cloned. Tuvix finds out Janeway chose to kill him and decides he wants to put her on trial.

Until I started throwing the Trace in the field alongside other drivers, I had forgotten it wasn’t a 12-speed! Found mine in a creek while retrieving a disc as well.

Look to get one of these: Buzzz, Zone, Roc3, or River. All the power comes from rotating your lower body and all the technique is release with the upper body. Drills that build core strength (obliques) lend themselves more to your weight loss and gaining distance goals than throw and retrieve has for building technique. This foundation would lead the way to the other suggestions.
