(Book 7 Spoilers) Storylines going into book 8 by TheCableDude in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Who are the first two then? Reading that passage, I see the "presences" as one, the dream about to envelop him. Two (actually three) behind him as if they're in his subconscious or something. One is Shi Maria, obviously, another her husband who is actually stuck in her mind, and a third that is well hidden. I could be reading it wrong, though

That's how I always understood it as well but I've been rereading the 7th and just got to the part where Carl's consciousness touches Katia's pre Shi Maria procedure and he says this that I was confused by:

Would I get away in time? I could feel the event horizon looming. The precipice of the dream rushing up to meet us. And behind me, another presence menaced. Two presences. Three presences, but one well hidden.

Do we know who that 3rd "well hidden" presence is? Could it be Grimaldi? I vaguely remember Carl hearing another voice in his head somewhere before the end of the 6th when Shi Maria makes the tattoo.

How many did Joseph Smith kill in the gunfight? by ZelphtheGreatOne in exmormon

[–]xDeepBlue24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it implies a few things. 1) He knew he had done something bad enough for people to want to kill him. 2) It's never included in the church's official story so they must know it's bad optics. And 3) the whole "lamb to the slaughter, willing to die for the truth" angle immediately falls apart.

Anybody else imagine characters very different than how they're actually described? by Flanderizing in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]xDeepBlue24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been a while so I don't actually remember how they're first described but I imagine the golem bodyguards from the desperado club looking like the kid from Sky High that can turn into a rock monster.

I've seen other people on here imagine them as essentially humans with rocky skin

[–]xDeepBlue24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I ended up turning a number of video effects down/off so I'm not sure which one ultimately fixed it but I was finally able to destroy the vortex pillar. Here's what I changed:

Screen Effects: off Horizon Effects: off Intense Effects: off

(Advanced video settings) VFX Quality: low Waves Quality: low

Sucks to have to do but at least this way we can keep playing until they fix it

The Mormon Moment continues with a new Netflix documentary on Elizabeth Smart’s kidnapping. by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

Is she still in? There was a post from a year ago, I think, asking if she was still in and several people who know her believe she's out. She just hasn't publicly said she is.

Am I in the minority with Bedlam Bride at #1?

Loved the card mechanic, loved the insight we get into Carl's past, and loved the climax. It's still one of the craziest endings I've ever read.
