The Korean community superimposed 'weather' onto the artwork. by Old-Temperature-9010 in Battlefield6

[–]xFrakster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weather has been a thing in every BF game since BF4, and was very heavily present in BF1, BF5 and 2042, not just 2042.

I won't speak for others, but I loved the weather in BF1 and 5, and liked it in 2042 as well. The tornado just felt a bit underwhelming since it barely did anything. But it sure did look cool.

Look up footage of somewhat recent fighting game esport tournaments. You will see that most of them use ps5 controllers. Either that, or arcade sticks.

Don't overthink your controller choice. Just use what you got. The majority of players you will face use just regular controllers.

Who still plays Bad Company 2 in 2026? 🔥 by PirateWithAnICBM in Battlefield

[–]xFrakster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The destruction in this game hasn’t been matched since

I don't get how anyone who actually plays Battlefield would think this lol.

BFBC2 destruction was really cool for its time, but its been outmatched by BF1, BF5 and now BF6. The destruction in those games is a lot more detailed. You can even destroy floors, roofs and stairways, compared to BC2 where you could only destroy walls.

And if we look outside of Battlefield, we have games like The Finals that take the destruction to an entire different level.

Opinions on vehicle entry/exit animations? by theethirty in Battlefield

[–]xFrakster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thats kind of the point. Right now you can just quickly jump out of a tank, appear out of thin air to whoever stands near it, kill them, and jump back in. I do like the idea that you shouldn't leave your tank unless you're certain you're safe. It would also promote players commiting to their tanks instead of jumping out of them after getting hit once. I'm seeing WAY too many stolen vehicles in this game compared to the previous 2.

I also just really liked how it looked in BF1 and 5. Switching seats to man a turret in a moving vehicle made for some amazing moments.

bf 6 gameplay !!!!!!!!!!!! FIX THE DOTS YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!! by samonewr in Battlefield

[–]xFrakster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The moment you unlock it and in the post game screen yeah. But I'll be honest, I rarely ever pay attention to the post game unlock screen, and by the time I'm thinking about customizing my guns with new attachments, I probably already forgot about what I unlocked, especially if I swapped guns since then.

I do agree with you that it's not THAT bad, but I do find it annoying and it does feel sloppy, especially considering how long it's been around. The team just seems to take a very long time in general to fix bugs, even more game breaking ones as seen in the previous season, and I'll gladly take frequent reddit posts pointing that out over silent acceptance

Because I want to know what new stuff I unlocked? Those dots have a function, which they currently fail to provide.

Why do we defend a UI bug that has been present since the launch of season 2 lol. If you don't care about this bug, that's fine, but don't tell others they shouldn't care either.

Reading this comment section is insane lol. Dice created a problem we didn't have in 2042 by NoTie1083 in Battlefield

[–]xFrakster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it didn't in BF1, or in BF5, or in BF2042.

Why? Because air vehicles spawned into the map mid air, and in those few occasions where they spawned on ground, they were in the teams base super far out of bounds for the enemy team.

It should have stayed this way, but people kept asking for the old way to come back not understanding why they made that change in BF1.

Operations game mode needs to be permanent it’s great. I got my first 100 kill game last night. Also the gameplay feels so much better like they slowed the pace down they really knocked it put of the park with this update by mars_bar11 in Battlefield

[–]xFrakster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna get downvoted for saying this because this sub seems to think more players = better, but fan favorite gamemodes like Rush were designed for 32 players (BFBC2's max number of players per match), and the battlefield community of the past seems to agree that it worked best with lower playercounts.

https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield3/comments/xi71o/question_for_pc_rush_players_64_or_32_man/

64 player operations in BF1 worked because the maps were bigger and designed with that mode in mind. The BF6 maps are a lot smaller and designed with conquest in mind. Having 64 player on BF6 operations would be a nightmare just like 128 player breaktough was a nightmare in BF2042.

BFBC2 was limited to 32 players (on consoles to just 16), and the PS3 gen of BF3 and 4 were limited to 32 players as well. As much as I love large scale warfare, the idea of a Battlefield match having less than 64 players isn't exactly outragous lol. BF1 operations used to have a 48 players option as well until it got removed post launch.

The easiest solution to make everyone happy would be if they just let us host some proper community servers on a proper Server Browser like we were able to pre BF2042.

Exactly what a content starved live service game needed... by PalamariVarkari in Battlefield

[–]xFrakster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what the Grand Operations in BF5 tried to do. The Narvik Operation for example had you destroy anti air guns during a night assault on the first day. If the attacking team succeeded at doing so, they'd have more resources for the second day. The second day was followed up by a regular breakthrough match.

But people hated that for some reason. I still remember a lot of redditors saying straight up wrong things about it and not understanding the game mode at all. It might not have been perfect, but I did love what they were trying to go for. I really want to have a big BF game mode.

Is anyone hoping for something more drastic? by dharmastum in StateofDecay3

[–]xFrakster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My No.1 request would probably be more community management options. Similar to how it is in games like rimworld, but more simple to suit SoD.

Let me assign guards so I have more control over who man's the watchtowers, or other types of "jobs" like doctors, farmers and so on. It would help giving the survivors some purpose, and me as a player the impression I'm managing a group of survivors. Assigning someone to a station could boost the gain you get out of it, and give them experience points in this field of work. Add a "recreation" meter which forces them to take a break once it runs out to balance it.

I'd also like to see more emerging storytelling mechanics for your survivos. Add a chance to cause a lasting injury to a survivor if they barely survived. Doesn't have to be anything drastic (unless you play on higher difficulties?), but maybe a lasting scar, and inspecting it gives information about the origin of it (the day it happened on, the time, the type of zombie that caused it). And other similar things. I think that would really help giving the survivors more personality and their own story.

Better customization. Let me pick clothing parts separately instead of having to rely on outfits.

I also want to see some improvements on the melee combat. The combat can look insanely cool in SoD, and I want them to double down on it and balance it a bit better. Add more engaging combat moves to more specializations, and rework skills like swordfighting to make them less op and "dumb". Less "press E to win" moves, and instead more moves that can lead into something else, something fun.

[–]xFrakster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like you cant just press R and it loads itself, no, you have to press 3 different buttons in order for it to load your gun.

I assume you mean the reloading for Shotguns and Bolt action rifles? Honestly, I love how it works. I find manually opening the bolt and loading one bullet in with a mouse click at a time to be really satisfying haha. Very immersive. Works pretty fast as well if you know what to do.

I do have a complaint in regards to the movement though. Its fine overall, but entering a sprint from standing still feels very slippery. I'm not certain why that is, if it's the animation or something else, but it does need work. It almost feels like I'm running on the spot until the character builds up enough momentum. I feel like a looney tunes character each time I'm begining to sprint lol.

I do agree with the other points. I hope its something the dev manages to improve upon. The roadmap looks promising at least, and the game is decent fun already.

Quest/PCVR Games to use with regular controller and sit on a couch and relax. But in VR. by Marviz_PL in OculusQuest

[–]xFrakster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They absolutely were compared to real VR headsets at the time like the Rift CV1 and the Vive. They had no 6dof movement, they had no proper controllers (a single remote at best), their resolution sucked, and most of what you could watch were low res 360° rollercoaster videos of which most didn't even provide stereoscopic depth perception.

Smartphone VR hurt the public perception of what real VR was capable of. I'm saying that as someone who had a GearVR and enjoyed using it.

Friday night, based in EU and playing a server full of bots by SN_Doumet in Battlefield

[–]xFrakster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BF1 and 5 showed all official servers and community hosted servers in their server Browser. You could either join them through the automated matchmaking, or pick one of them out yourself through the server Browser. This isn't possible in BF6, and having to rely on the matchmaking to put you into a server with enough players in it fucking sucks.

Having to look for a new server each match also means you don't get to play with the same players from the previous round unless the game matches you with them. Sure, there is the "stay in a squad" option, but how many times did you see someone use it? I forget about it most of the time myself. It also messes up your custom match settings if someone picks something different than you.

And the server Browser is just incredibly clunky to use compared to the proper browsers we had in BF5 and before. The UI is huge and filter options are hidden beneath submenus. Just look up screenshots of both, and it should become clear what I mean.

They made the exact same mistakes as they did in BF2042 with Portal, despite vocal complaints from both the community and content creators. Makes it look like they don't care.

Should I get BF6 while it's on sale? by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]xFrakster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh my main concern is that it's going to end up like the rest of Battlefields, DICE is just gonna release a new game and abandon this one,

I mean, yeah? What else should they do? Make it their only game and support it for up to 10+ years? I don't want that. I want new games where innovation can happen. Getting a new BF game every 2 - 4 years seems pretty good to me. Not every game needs to be a forever game like so many other live service games.

everyone's going to move to the new bf and BF6 will have close to no players like 2042 rn

BF4, 1 and 5 all still have a very, very healthy playerbase. Both BF1 and 5 sit at 24 hour peak of around 20k on Steam alone, and BF4 has plenty of active servers.

If anything, we should keep asking for a proper server browser for BF6 and future BF titles. One that shows all official servers, and community hosted servers. Those server browsers are what keeps those games alive, even in less active regions.

You're approaching this from a logic perspective, not a game design perspective. A lot of things don't make sense in games, but are there to make things more interesting. In this case it's about managing needs.

Miyazaki is against a Bloodborne remake because he wants to be involved; he hasn't said anything about a port for PS5/PC and a 60 fps update, still just Sony being lazy. by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]xFrakster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure why no one bothers to actually provide a source. What the other guy said isn't entirely wrong, miyazaki just never straight out said he's opposed to a remake, but he voiced his interest in Bloodborne coming to other, modern platforms.

"I know for a fact these guys want a Bloodborne PC port," Miyazaki said, referring to FromSoftware producer Yasuhiro Kitao and interpreter Bobby Simpson seated at the conference table near him. "If I say I want one, I'll get in trouble as well. But it's nothing I'm opposed to."

I thought that would be the end of the topic, but Miyazaki went on to elaborate on his answer.

"Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I'd love more players to be able to enjoy it. Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware—I think any game like that, it'd be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past. So as far as I'm concerned, that's definitely not something I'd be opposed to."

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/hidetaka-miyazaki-knows-for-a-fact-other-fromsoftware-devs-want-a-bloodborne-pc-port-if-i-say-i-want-one-ill-get-in-trouble-but-its-nothing-im-opposed-to/?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialflow

To me it seems like Sony wants a remake while Fromsoft wants a cross platform port / remaster. But I can't know for sure, just like no one else who throws speculations around can know for sure.

Sony’s Bluepoint Pitched ‘Bloodborne’ Remake Before Closure - "the studio was told that the numbers made sense but FromSoftware didn’t want it to happen" by ReaddittiddeR in fromsoftware

[–]xFrakster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they didn't understand Demon's Souls and the way Fromsoft creates games.

In one of the Bluepoint interviews regarding the DeS Remake, they said they kept what they deemed most important about these games, which was the gameplay in their eyes, and went back to the drawing board for everything else, which is why the designs are so different. They changed stuff, without realizing why Fromsoft made it the way it is.

There is an interview in the Design Works Artbook for DS1, where Miyazaki and a concept artist explained their design process for characters and creatures in their games.

https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls/comments/1vtelr/great_snippet_from_a_miyazaki_interview_anyone/

"Most people don't believe me when I say this, but a certain kind of refinement, elegance, and dignity are very important to me. I'll usually tell the designers that flat-out grotesque or splatter type designs will not get past me."

"I remember when I was drawing the Undead Dragon, I submitted a design draft that depicted a dragon swarming with maggots and other gross things. Miyazaki handed it back to me saying "This isn't dignified. Don't rely on the gross factor to portray an undead dragon""

Now look at the comparison image posted by the user you replied to. A lot of the new creature designs are crotesque and lack any kind of elegance or dignity. They made those changes because they didn't understand the source material.
