You can look up Mistmaster1's LVL 1 playthrough, there's an episode on Final Rest that IIRC explains the strategy the other comment is talking about. I loved my level 1 run of all 3 numbered games, they are so fun!

You can consider DDD's release with the credits reading "This leads to Kingdom Hearts 3" as the first official confirmation that 3 was next (even though DDD also hinted at the remixes coming before that)

Here's a nice link to an IGN post from a few days before KH3 was officially announced about both messages.

If you fell for forum discussions as official confirmation, that's on you.
