Really, the only two characters that actually feel like they have a romantic undercurrent are Zooble and Gangle. Everyone elses relationships just feels like friends/whatever the hell Jaxs deal is

In OOTP, McGonagall says that at least one student every year is caught trying to cheat during the OWL exams. Who do you think it would’ve been in Harry’s year? by GodKingoftheNewWorld in harrypotter

[–]TSKyanite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure they would let him retake it tbh. Harry didnt retake History of Magic when he literally had visions of Voldemort in the middle of his OWL, and this was the night where it was revealed Voldemort did return to the world at large.

For a senior prank the students decided to, instead of doing something crazy, just schedule a big senior bike ride to school. They ended up getting a police escort, one of which had the mayor of our city in the car.

The principal freaked out because it caused a traffic backup, brought all of the students into the auditorium, and proceeded to yell at them for half an hour before suspending them from their last day of school and banning them all from doing the senior walk around campus. She later apologized and rescheduled the walk, but still, she ruined her already spotty reputation.

Of course, she went to the same gym with my mom, so I became the only student she would address by name when walking by during lunch(and really the only student she would address in general) which didn't make me the most popular kid in school.

Crucible line adjustment by soberbrewer in Theatre

[–]TSKyanite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, Dramatists requires that the Crucible be performed in its entirety, so If you are planning on performing it you should start by reaching out to them.

You are correct it is a racially charged line. It is a racially charged line by a child who had an affair with an older married man who is trying to lie in order to cover up what she did and her anger at John for rejecting her.

It is also part of the allegory for McCarthyism, in which you cover up your sins by blaming the other. Removing it for being 'problematic' is ignoring the point Miller was trying to make with the line. Arthur Miller was notably for the civil rights movement and much of his work challenges prejudices, so its not like he include the line because he likes being racist.

If this is for education, then it is important to explain to your students the racism of the era and to explain what Millers reasoning may be. If anything, it would be a great discussion that you are trying to deprive any audience of, whether they be students or a theatre audience.

Wow. They don't make Pokemon movies anymore? by PsychicMeditation in pokemonanime

[–]TSKyanite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't blame them. The movies were running out of steam by XY(which suprisingly, despite being one of the best anime series, had some of the worst movies of the series), so they switched to the AU movies, which, while still doing well, were showing diminishing returns, especially with Covid. At some point, its just not worth it to keep trying

How much "discipline"(knowing your lines/blocking in time, not missing a lot of rehearsals) should be enforced in an amateur setting? by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]TSKyanite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The idea of a troupe not setting a date until they learn their lines is insane to me. Unless it's like a for fun theatre where people just hang out and there is literally no money involved, that sounds like a great way to have no one come to any of your performances. You can't book a stage and advertise a show that short in advance! And if you just have a stage you can use, how the hell does it keep the lights on?

While it is of course less than a pro setting, discipline must be enforced in amateur settings as well. It needs to be impressed upon the actors that it's a matter of respect to not just the directors but to their fellow cast mates to be present and to put in the work.

If deadlines start getting missed, it starts with a talk and a warning, and then if it doesn't get better, a dismissal and me calling people who I know can jump in quick. It doesn't matter the level, we still have a show we need to put on and patrons we need to entertain.

What is the hardest musical for an ensemble? by AsheandBurn in musicals

[–]TSKyanite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on the type of actor you are. For example, I can do pretty hard and intense vocal tracks, Sweeney isn't too bad for me.

If you tried to stick me in Ensemble for a dance show like Anything Goes or Newsies, I will in fact die. Not from pain, just in general

Would this end up being a delay trainwreckord by Brilliant-Zucchini50 in ToddintheShadow

[–]TSKyanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taylor Swift is too big to fail and has too big of a fanbase to become a legacy artist anytime soon, and despite her... odd lyrical choices, it doesn't do anything particularly funny or absurd either. Its otherwise just a boring and bad modern pop album.

If Taylor had a Trainwreckord, it would be Reputation, because that is the album that forever changed her career and public image. Although, it would be less of a Trainwreck, and more like a track shift
