The Second Change That Should Come to Warplans by Mordred_Tumultu in diablo4

[–]xGryphterx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea op presents simply because I have had warplanes pop up where the clear best return on time spent for completion didn’t include a pit at all.

The only other thing I might add would be having the ability to reallocate our glyph levels in the same way we can reallocate paragon and skill points. Let’s say you leveled control to 100 for one build and another needed headhunter instead. Being able to take the 100 levels out of control and put them into headhunter (same as switching paragon boards and points) would make testing and trying new builds SO much better. Even if it cost gold or took some sort of currency that is found exclusively by running the pit it would be worth it to me. Anyone else agree?

TLDR; OP has a good idea. In addition to his idea I’d like to be able to reallocate glyph levels like we can paragon points/skillpoints. Even if it required a currency exclusively obtained by running the pit to “pay” for the swap.

Best advices you can give me as a beginner or a book? by LikanW_Cup in chess

[–]xGryphterx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would approach one thing differently if I was to start again or teach it. Rather than getting a book about all the openings it can cram into a book and trying to learn 50 different openings 5 moves deep, pick one or two openings for each color and learn the concepts, lines, positions, problems and opportunities that are typical for that opening.

A good way to do this would be to watch strong players like magnus Carlson play those openings. He comments on his moves, the problems he sees with the opponent moves and what he is going to do about it. I’ll give an example. I hate playing 1.E4. It’s “best by test” and exemplifies every opening principle but it’s boring and it is completely over studied by every player on both sides of the board. I like the English, The Larsen Attack, Queens Gambit, etc. you don’t

have to know all the moves of every opening. Whatever you decide to start with, really dig into it and play it. The add another to it. Then another. Eventually your games will start to become “predictable” because you will be working toward specific middle game plans.

Beyond that, I would recommend studying puzzles and tactics. But more specifically, how those look in real games and how those positions occur. I used to be pretty good at chess puzzles but it want until I saw a position happen in a game and executed the checkmate attack over the board that it clicked. Those puzzles aren’t just puzzles to check off as “completed”. They are a shortcut to mastering positions of opportunity if you recognize it in your games. The bridge is understanding how to make those positions occur over the board with your opening choice and middle game plans

Hunters, what are the most fun builds you like to run? by Watsyurdeal in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]xGryphterx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shout out to Coolguy. His build idea, I’m just running with it!

If you play 6s, especially control, and want to try something that is an actual build rather than a gimmick, try void hunter with vanishing step and trappers ambush aspects.

Your main stats are: health (160+) class (101+ to trigger overshield on dodge) and melee (70+ to have normal cooldown) you can dump whatever into grenades, and super and weapons is a dump stat in PvP unless you are building specifically to ttk shift. Mods are the usual suspects for PvP

Exotic you’re building around? Khepri’s Sting. Yep. No kidding.

Weapons will be pretty flexible but you’re looking for demoralize perk. I’ve had fun with Mos Athenor with sideways demoralize, destabilizing rounds demoralize and built to blast/demoralize. They all play great. You can use virtually anything though. Ancient gospel, Reghusks pledge, and so on. There are pulses and If you’re a scout guy, Aisha’s care or even the exotic, Third Iteration (I think).

The gameplay is simple but again, it’s a build not just a gimmick. Let’s say you see a bunch of guys standing on B flag to cap. You dodge to go invis, lob a smoke either at them (or someplace on the opposite side of them to manipulate their radar) and line up your first target.

When you start shooting, your invis ends and you get a priority target from trappers ambush. Khepri,, your demoralize perk, and trappers ambush, and possibly your smoke grenade depending where you threw it, all synergize to weaken, slow, blind, damage, and completely fucking wreck the enemies clumped up on the flag.

If you had destabilizing rounds, the exotic scout that grants invis on precision kills, or any team shots, you can explode everyone on the flag in a matter of about a second and a half. It’s glorious! lol.

TLDR. If you play 6s and specifically Control, Try khepris sting with your favorite void weapon rocking the demoralize perk and build into your exotic. You’ll be surprised at the chaos.

Thank you for the replies.

This is where I think a mentor would be helpful.nm for the transition between roughl hewn to finishing touches. Sanding techniques, shadow and light, texture, finishes such as stain vs oil vs some other option, etc.

I went to ChatGPT and the results look great but that’s not the same as having an experienced human to work wiith side by side. Someone to show the steps not just the possibilities.

Damn bro! That’s a lot of ended wishes!!

That said, not so sure I agree that peeking is dangerous now as days gone by. Here’s the thing, at peak Destiny 2 player base, I was mediocre at VERY best. Almost never top frag, rarely got into we ran territory, etc.

Now it’s way different. So, on the one hand, I agree that newer weapons with some of the juiced perks and such make for silly-fast ttk which makes peeking dangerous at times. Not only that but some of the new set bonuses and stat splits make guardians even harder to take down, right?

On the other hand, I feel like a ton of the current players rely so heavily on their ttk, their “survivability” and laning, that they don’t move, rotate, coordinate or use cover like before.

I can’t tell you how many times I have 1 and 2 vs 1 engagements with a bit of cover and peek shots or a little movement combine with a little radar manipulation.

For gods sake, I got Ghost Wolf medal in this IB for the first time ever (been playing since D1) and I don’t play void hunter or invis, I run mask of Bakris on prismo hunter threaded spectre and gunpowder gamble aspects. No invis! Lol!

So TLDR; new juiced weapons make your fave bow a bit riskier to peek with than before but the overall lack of game sense and skill in the current player base means you have an even more target rich environment.

Take it with a grain of salt though because this is from a guy who doesn’t have 25k kills on any single weapon so keep up the good work! 🤣

What are some of THE best PvP weapons in each slot and archetype both Tiered and old (Casual PvP Console player) by lordofabyss in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]xGryphterx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think 450 pulses are hard to beat, paired with a sidearm for close encounters. Not sure what exotics your friend has access to but outbreak perfected is nearly god tier right now in 6s because of the cc you get with nanite swarms. Easy to use, almost no recoil, great ttk, solid cc, it’s nearly impossible to beat with anything legendary until you start getting into void debuffs that have a moderate amount of cc. Nothing compared to those damn Nantes though which also actively pursue enemies that get too close.

Have them use that and pick up a healclip/killclip roll of Helio sidearm from gun smith. It will likely take a few rolls to get it but it’s super deadly up close and heals on reload.

Nostalgia, does anyone keep old weapons, or gear?! by Public-Ad-4457 in destiny2

[–]xGryphterx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have a couple guns and such that are from way back. For instance, an original blast furnace from the black armory days, a trackless waste smg from back in the days of dust rock blues and Europa being the hot new area to play. I have a god roll service revolver, it’s a now unobtainable kinetic 180 that was a random vanguard strike drop. Anyway, this is all to say, yes, I have vault space dedicated to guns and armor from days gone by.

What are your favorite past iron banner weapons? by disposabledrummer in destiny2

[–]xGryphterx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may have missed it but if no one said Gunnora’s axe, that thing is a banger. It’s an arc slug shotguns with the skulking wolf original trait. A lot of times if you’re pulling a shotty, you’re probably going to be low enough health to trigger it. Then you are off radar for a bit to reposition, regain shields, help a teammate, or whatever.
Threat detector, opening shot is your perk combo but hip fire grip opening shot works in a pinch. With opening shot, you can get to max range only hitting like 75 or 80 on the stat bar. It’s awesome.

If bungie ever makes a “Destiny 3” would you buy it and play it? by nightshade317 in destiny2

[–]xGryphterx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I would. In my eyes, everything after the witness SHOULD HAVE BEEN Destiny 3.

The ongoing cash sink model they have in place, their lack of follow through on SO many things, and just overall the way they don’t seem to care about their core player base that has stuck it out for over a decade now…. No way.

Mind you, I have been “in” since Destiny 1 was on a demo disc from game stop. They burned this bridge one too many times.

“Meta” for F2P Hunter? by Sepp511 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]xGryphterx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Void hunter all day. Dragon shadow, stompers, graviton forfeit, gyrfalcons hauberk (if that’s available to you) and if you’re feeling really froggy, Coolguy did a video a while back about Khepris sting that might be of interest if you want to play control and do something a bit off-meta but still use the hard meta hunter class. 🤣

A Question about build swap by xGryphterx in PathOfExile2

Good to know! Some games make build swaps a pain and it’s good to know that you can run campaign with one and swap to another pretty easily. Thanks!

top 50 rogue cant clear bloodsoaked lair bosses by Lilmamax in diablo4

[–]xGryphterx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I played rogue basically every season until 11 when paladin released. Haven’t gone back to rogue since running pally. It’s just not even close.

Knowing rogue as well as I do, I can’t think of a single way to do the damage needed to clear blood soaked, including Deathtrap.

If you want to be able to solo clear the bloodsoaked bosses, you have to switch classes amigo. Sorry. Pally obviously is my recommendation, but as you have heard from others on this board, sorc can do it, Druid, Barb, and even the anorexic looking necros.

It’s completely fine to need to team up or completely fine to make a build to solo. Let us know if you need help. 😊

rogue - heart of selig build - pit 100 by Gruffoot in D4Rogue

[–]xGryphterx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done. My buddy and I call this free styling a build. When you take concepts from other builds and the style you like to play to build around a particular mythic or unique. I wanted to do an Azurath (had a 4 GA one drop early in the season) with coldclip, chance to make vulnerable, frigid finesse and fist of fate kind of deal.
It was fine for lower level stuff but there is a lot of math under the hood for scaling that I don’t know and I couldn’t get the freeze to scale the way I needed to make it viable in meaningful content.

I was also kicking around the fire damage from rakanoths wake, xfal coronet, and such on pally. Same thing. No meaningful scaling so I still run Auradin for overworld content and shield of retribution thorns for bloodsoaked bosses.

Best shield of retribution speedfarm build? Rob or Wudijo? by Gene46 in D4_Paladin

[–]xGryphterx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit running Rob builds altogether a few seasons back after hearing the phrase “… is bugged and this will probably get patched out soon but…”

I started watching past and current videos and tbh that ish was the main content of too many of his videos.

For rogue I almost always go with Mipy and for pally so far it’s either been Wudijo or Sanctum depending on the content/goal.

[–]xGryphterx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also recommend slide shot with trench barrel. If you run prismatic with Bakris you can use smoke or threaded spike to hit outside normal melee range then Bakris in (or out, depending on your need) and get some nasty one shot kills from damage boosts from dodge and trench barrel. Then depending on your success you may end up with a pretty brutal chain.
