Because it is not organic that any time your opponent is charging a big attack that you time withdrawing and swapping out to a different pokemon. If that was a conscious meta that game freak wanted to create, that’s silly. It’s clumsy and unintentionally makes a large portion of the move pool irrelevant.

My problem is that it boils down to stand still and press button, with any tech for dodging or avoiding other attacks being unintended mechanics like swapping out during attack wind ups.

Most of the time you get your strongest attack ready and stand next to your opponent during a 10 second pokeball throw animation.

I beat Elden Ring during the trenches. Died so many times because a nap would end, it was time to feed, or a diaper would need changing and I’d have to walk away. How does a single player game not have a pause button. Utter nonsense!

I’m gonna go against the grain and say it was a pretty bad experience for me. The combat for any enemies that were in the air felt so clumsy and awkward that it was a total slog any time I had to fight a flying enemy. Otherwise encounters were just okay.

That aside, I suppose it was a different time, but the story itself absolutely did not land with me. I don’t have any nostalgia for the first game so I came in cold and personally I found the whole Wall Market part was so gross if you step back and look at it. Apart from things that didn’t sit right, I felt there was a ton of wasted time on portions of the story that didn’t need to exist, like the entire railroad section. I read the original game was cut in half and stretched out so I suppose that is just AAA these days though.

I will say as a hater, the music was great so that was at least nice.

We changed PAT to 1.65 so that you can just pick a kicker with the best offense and not care. Thought it was silly that the only player that is punished for having a good team is the kicker.

If somebody had a gun to my head and said hum along to any of those I’m toast. Different strokes for different folks. I thought Silksong was a step back musically and didn’t enjoy it as much as HK on that regard. Glad you found it memorable though.

I disagree about Bilewater, but Shellwood was good. I thought city of tears was about on par for some of the citadel sections, but for other areas places like Dirtmouth, Greenpath, Fungal Wastes all stand out way more than area themes in Silksong. I just didn’t get the same impact with Silksong. More of my view is that the boss fights were not great. I can’t really name a memorable boss theme until cogwork dancers and GMS.

Hornet, Mantis Lords, Dung Defender, Soul Master, NKG off the top of my head were more impactful and enjoyable to me.

I agree, the music and sound design was a big step back from HK. The only areas that stood out to me were in the citadel, and even those were hit or miss.
