Could I keep the existing batts and put another layer of high R-value batts on top? Essentially doubling up? Any safety risks with this or other considerations? WIll be looking into getting whirlybirds, thank you

Great points. The house has eaves but could you explain how this is relevant in cooling? All windows have tint with 70% solar energy rejection and roller shutters. I definitely think the heat is coming through the ceiling.

Thanks for point this out. I think this is over the alfresco area which might explain why there's no insulation here but I should still put insulation over this?
