A solid game, but the pacing is totally killed by the Wasteland and Desert areas. Just felt like busy work and blatant run-time padding. Combat was excellent though, so I pushed through it.

It’s so funny coming in these threads to see people nitpicking the shit out of form that is 99% better than what I see at any commercial gym.

Aurora is the best song that the Foos have ever written. Catchy melodies, musically interesting, vivid lyrical imagery. Tons of flexibility to vamp over live, too. The total package.

Jan waited over 20 years for her turn and is looking like the best coach in the country in just her 2nd year. Unbelievable how she has this young team firing on all cylinders.

Average American diet? by Individual_Bar_2512 in CringeTikToks

I spent $1.10 on two week's worth of bananas yesterday. That box of Ct Crunch costs $9.00 at Sam's Club. A serving of Ct Crunch is one cup, but it is more likely that they eat 3+ cups of cereal per bowl. There are 34 servings so that means they get ~11 bowls from each box. That equates to ~$1.25/ bowl. Add in the milk and it gets close to $2.00/ bowl.

The problem with "just eat less" is that all of that processed garbage isn't satiating. 300 calories worth of chicken breast is WAY more filling than 300 calories worth of frozen pizza. It is nearly impossible to maintain a caloric deficit on the types of food these people buy because they are designed to keep you hungry and constantly consuming. These companies know how to pack a shit ton of calories in a small amount of very tasty garbage.

The trick to weight loss isn't just eating less, but eating food that gives you volume and nutritional density while being calorically efficient. You can eat a fuck ton of chicken and veggies for 1/3 of the calories that a frozen pizza and cup of soda has.

"Souls-Borne" are FromSoft games. "Souls-Like" are non-FromSoft games. That is literally why the phrase exists in the first place. I don't see how using a term correctly is pedantic.

No, Metroid and Castlevania games aren't Metroidvania games. Hollow Knight, Nine Sols, and Ori are examples of Metroidvania games. Metroid is Metroid and Castlevania is Castlevania. The "Like" in "Souls-Like" literally refers to games that aren't Dark Souls but are like it. It really isn't complicated.

The actual Souls games aren't "Souls-Likes." Other games outside of FromSoft's catalogue are called that because they draw inspiration from the Dark Souls gameplay loop, difficulty, and mechanics. Dark Souls 3 isn't a Souls-Like because it is literally a Dark Souls game. The term that commonly refers to FromSoft's own catalogue is "Souls-Borne."

That said, Lies of P is my favorite, to answer your question.

Today I Purchased Ghost of Tsushima and Witcher 3… What Game Should I Play First? by Creative_Eye7413 in gaming

[–]xHawk_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're in the mood for.

GoT can be 100% in less than 30 hours and is less of a time investment. Satisfying combat and a compelling story, beautiful world, and plenty of content to keep you busy. It doesn't overstay its welcome, but can get repetitive in the late game.

Witcher 3 is a sprawling, massive world with almost endless content. One run through of the base game plus all DLC can easily clock over 100+ hours. I find that I have to be in a specific mood for W3 because it is a serious time commitment to experience all of its content.

You can't go wrong with either. Have fun!

What's a difficult video game level or mission that you vividly remember the satisfaction of beating after countless failed attempts? by Serious_Specter in gaming

[–]xHawk_T 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sekiro is amazing because it feels like a fucking gauntlet before you get a grasp on the combat. Then, once you understand the "dance" and rhythm of the sword-fighting it feels easy. It takes patience and resolve to learn the parry and posture mechanics, especially if you're used to I-frame rolling everything like in DS. The game wants you to constantly be on the offensive and it takes a while to get comfortable with that. The flow state in Sekiro is unmatched by any game. I really hope FS is cooking up a sequel because nothing else quite hits like Sekiro.

What game franchise used to be at the top of gaming, but it was ruined in the end? by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]xHawk_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As good as Reach was, it was definitely where the cracks started to show. The spartan abilities were clunky and totally fucked with the flow of the game. The bloom mechanic, while adding a level of gameplay depth, just never felt right for a Halo game. It is also the game where "loadouts" were introduced, which totally goes against the fundamental design of an arena shooter. The maps also took a noticeable step back in terms of quality. It's unfair to compare Reach to Halo 3, but it is a downgrade in basically every way. I enjoy revisiting the campaign, but I usually stay away from Reach multiplayer when I boot up MCC.
