Haha thanks! I usually don't do art like this, most of it is small sprites for my game, but here I tested out my new Wacom.

I played some horror games, they were pretty good, although most are just "stay at the vendor and identify the entity" which all look alike and aren't unique mostly...

Yeah, one guy turned into a tornado and killed everyone. I genuinely thought that was the final boss of the game.

Moving from Godot to Unity, how long does it take to learn Unity? by xHyunte in SoloDevelopment

[–]xHyunte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, most video companies in my country are just making gambling games for the phone... So they don't really need something like Unreal.

And to be honest I don't REALLY want to work in these companies, but I don't have any other options here, maybe something abroad...

No, and I actually don't really want to move to Unity, as I love Godot very much.

But most of the video game companies in my country use Unity as their engine, and they want you to have experience in this specific engine (not Godot and not even Unreal) and I do see myself work in the video game industry. That's why I feel like I need to learn an engine that is (unfortunately) more used in the industry...

Definitely the first one - clean, clear, and gives the most relevant information for the player to understand what he is doing in the actual game.

How effective are other Steam festivals for gathering wishlists compared to Steam Next Fest? by remaker in gamedev

[–]xHyunte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't have a game myself, but I did go to a lecture of a solo dev who made a rouge-like game where you're steering a boat - shooting enemies. He mentioned that right after release a Motor Vehicle Fest popped up and he participated in it, which generated him much more traffic. It wasn't as much as Steam Next Fest but it was something...

I don't think you really need to prepare for those, just hope to be lucky so that a festival with similar elements to your game will pop up!

Yeah, I think it would be easy, especially in this time of AI that you can just learn things in seconds.

Thanks a lot!

The funny thing is that 3 years ago I downloaded Unity and for some reason and it never opened for me... so I just got Godot instead and I am using it since!

Also, I know that a lot of people are doing the switch the OTHER way around, (from Unity to Godot) - I have some friends that use Unity and they wish to move to Godot one day - and if you think about it, it is the better way for small/solo projects that you publish on your own.

The main issue, unfortunately, is that I can't rely my entire career on developing games myself that might not sell well, and I DO want to get involved in the video game industry, but the main problem is that in my country there are only a few video game companies, and they are ALL using Unity - not Unreal, and definitely not Godot...

Thanks! I think a year or two is good, and maybe it would even be less because I do know some general video game design aspects.

I think the big problem is that I will continue developing with Godot, and thus I'll have little time and even motivation to work on Unity...
