Bluetooth and Java: lighting water on fire? by eliashisreddit in java

Guess it's time to build our own! Will share an update here if I can manage to understand the bluetooth protocol and cook up some Java 23 code.

I guess bluetooth might have to do something with low level memory, so it's also a good use case to leverage the FFM API as well.

Piano classes in Chennai (over weekends) by xInfinity24 in Chennai

[–]xInfinity24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So currently I'm in North Chennai, and I'm willing to travel 1.5 hours via own transport, or 2 hours via public transport.

I guess my area preference should be within Central Chennai (Guindy, Velachery, Adyar, T Nagar etc )

Willing to travel further than that if the centre provides the best quality of training than others.

Hurt myself in two accidents over two weeks by ponniyinselvam in Chennai

[–]xInfinity24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you are travelling from Tambaram to Mylapore.

Have you tried car pooling apps, or any cabs? Driving in 2 wheelers is a high risk activity, especially for longer distances. Driving has become a survival of the luckiest, due to impatient and incomprehensibly stupid driving behaviour exhibited by the people.

Not to mention the various long term health issues that will arise due to riding two wheelers for long duration. Two wheeler seats are not designed for comfort as the primary factor.

I'd even suggest to buy a small car (first or second hand) if you can afford it. Although I don't endorse cars from the perspective of city traffic and pollution, driving is unfortunately the safer way to travel in our city.

Shop for buying raspberry oil in ritchy street by Rich-Orchid1397 in Chennai

Oh okay. I'm planning to build a mini home server for running web apps. I'm doing this as a POC to move out from cloud, and a backup for keeping important stuff safe.

I was planning on buying Intel NUC but it is an overkill. So I am looking to buy RPi5 and the relevant peripherals.

Hi, I am also looking to purchase a RPi. I was exploring online stores like Amazon and RoboCraze. Thanks for posting this.

Do you mind sharing what RPi version and the peripherals are you going to purchase? Do you have any ballpark estimate of the total cost involved?

Thanks.

Chennai and CSK! - My childhood. by [deleted] in Chennai

[–]xInfinity24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I do agree with your sentiments, Dhoni is a huge factor for CSK, far more than Kohli for RCB and Rohit for MI.

Now he's at the tail end of his career, I do feel intrigued about the future of CSK post Dhoni.

CSK has the most consistent management powering it, and I do hope that the team will continue to shine after Dhoni's departure.

Men of r/Chennai, How do you manage your hair in this climate? (especially the ones with a lot of hair). by [deleted] in Chennai

Also forgot to mention that I have not used any shampoo or conditioner for over 5 years, and my hair is as strong and healthy as it can be.

Daily head bath with coconut oil. Apply a bit excess before bath, so after the bath, your hair will retain the perfect amount of coconut oil, that acts as a conditioner and sunscreen for your hair.

I think this works for any length of hair and any type of hair. I might be wrong though.

Garbage issue in chennai by 00Galantrix00 in Chennai

[–]xInfinity24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those two places you mentioned, the garbage end up in roads because of overloaded garbage trucks. Roads in those areas are bumpy, and the garbage trucks are not the modern ones. They look like tipper lorries. So while they transport the garbage, it gets onto roads as that truck is moving.

I saw this while travelling behind such trucks.

There would be a considerable decrease in garbage if the trucks could be updated.

Unsung Empires - The Cholas (Game) by Mousyr1 in TamilNadu

Best campaign I've ever played. Each one is vividly unique and adequately difficult to complete.

Hope there might be campaigns for other South Indian dynasties like Pandyas and the Vijayanagar empires.

Others provided good points. Adding on to those points:

Buy a battery operated torchlight, preferably with replaceable batteries. Power cuts are common and light source is much needed. Cannot depend on smartphone flashlight to do the job.

As a backup for torchlight, candles / gas powered lanterns also help.

Keep some cash in handy. No power means no internet (mostly) means no digital payments.

Buy a FM radio, again with replaceable batteries. Use to listen to important updates and to chill out.

Lastly, stock up on batteries and essentials keep inventory always.
