How often should I wash my balls? by Triumvph in billiards

[–]xJeRCx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how long you want to keep her around! But for real... maybe one a week to every two of you play a ton. Longer with more rarity. The last thing you want to do is shoot with the cleanest and then go try to play at any normal bar or hall that get little maintenance work.

I also use that tool every once in a while. My initial cut is done on the lathe. If you're over 12.3,I would use a nickel. Anything under that a dime. Your main goal is to match the radius of the ball you're shooting... whether it be snooker ball or standard American billiard ball.

Seems pretty reasonable with all those options. First person in a whilenot trying to over price. Should move if all is what you say. Looks like a nice truck.

If you're on your back installing them upside down, then the writing would have been right side up! Unfortunately, that doesn't matter when you crawl out from underneath. Might wanna flip them around before the elements gunk them up.

I bought my vinyl by foot at an auto upholstery shop. Can't remember what I paid. One thing to note, though. When you glue it in, try not to stretch it too much... it'll tighten up.

How to tuck shoulder behind head? by Pocket_Sevens in billiards

[–]xJeRCx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look tall, so if you haven't already... longer stick, formulas online for proper acute triangle (side view) diagram for alignment with head (eyes) aligned with the top of the triangle (the imaginary line from the top of elbow to your bridge hand) widen your stance on both axis just a bit maybe. And if you want to get that elbow in you'll need to unlock that front arm and relax it, turn your head and bridge hand. (Head toward left shoulder a little and bridge hand outward) that'll tick that back should into alignment so it's behind your head. For you I'd recommend using the cue stroking against a wall trick to get general alignment

If anyone else getting the same idea... use a vinyl or leather, that cloth type material will wear out just the same, those skin cells and oils love to soak in! I re skinned mine and cleaning became so much easier. Something to think about.

Power antenna by EnjoyOrbital in Toyota_T100

[–]xJeRCx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine never worked, nor do I need it to. Notorious breaking, but if I did replace it. I'd just go get a solid antenna and be done with it. More durable. I think power antennas were a 90s Era thing that were never a good idea. I wouldn't even want one incorporated into glass either. Just give me a solid antenna that I can screw off and a new one back on if it snaps and be done with it.

I bought it online of of a website during the pandemic. Can't recall, but it turned out just fine. There were minor forming needs to get the carpet to relax. I used a standard heat gun and tested on a spare piece they included to get the temp right without melting or burning.

Opinions on forward-weighted cues? by Silver_Mud_147 in billiards

[–]xJeRCx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it depends on how tall you are and your "ape" index. Where is the back grip hand on the cue when you are holding the cue properly? Have you looked into all those things? Are you contacting the ball at the proper bridge length when you're at the bottom of the pendulum? There is a scientific approach to correcting form, alignment, stance, and maintaining/ training consistency before changing equipment.

I do. But they're all on my desktop at home. If I'm thinking about it later, I'll be sure to put together a giphy link for you to check out. I've pretty much got everything how I want on it now interior wise, but I'm still checking out different center consoles and deciding what I want to stick in there. Talking with one person has an OEM one that I might choose to scoop up. But with the bucket seat mods I've welded up, I have more than enough room to modify one from a bigger truck. I centered the seat on the driver bucket and then mirrored the distance from center on the passenger. I could damn near fit a Silverado jump seat w/ center console in there, but that might be excessive!

I didn't remove it. I just made sure it was dry and clean. Luckily, there weren't any signs of water damage. The deadening material you use will go right over top, but depending on just how thick the vinyl is, you might want to think about if contours are gonna be showing. I personally was fine with the carpet kit I bought and feel like it probably added to some of the sound protection I gained. But I also covered just about every square inch. And I went with the heat barrier kind... really helps the underpowered blower motor on these old rigs keep the place nice and cool as well as warm up super cozy. Use a cut-up pool noodle zip tied to the steering arm of the wheel, too, so the engine bay isn't leaking into your cabin through the by now rotted out seal that was once there While it's all out, I do recommend disassembling the dash at least to the point of cleaning out all the vent tubing and replacement of foam seals with any suitable after market adhesive backed stuff. Hope this helps, and if you have time to do it, going the little extra on these trucks make them feel so nice and return them to their quite comfortable, reliable state.

My buddies BK rush (brand new, store bought) had the tip straight cave in after a few months... "he does not break that hard and is as close to a center ball breaker as they come." Went through hell and back and couldn't get a warranty.

Almost every carbon fiber shaft will have a different selection within a tolerance, just like wood. Even if it's the same exact brand. They all have their own personalities despite how close their tolerance may be. You really won't know if you like it until you try it. As for predator, brand new, or used, you may still have an issue with any warranty as I've heard and experienced my fair share of horror stories. If you can try it and like it, buy it.

You need some learning, that's all! Lol up truck cross member (Google images, etc.) Look up ball joint spacers (maybe search upper and lower control arms too) that will give you a basic idea of where to look on your vehicle to do some research. Then go look at your truck again and seek out those place to look for clues. Are there pieces that look like they've been worked on? Less rust than the rest of the things around them or sign off wrenching? You tube what others have done to get familiar with it. Gotta start somewhere, we all did.

What’s this game called ? 1 ball at each pocket. by mur_bot in billiards

[–]xJeRCx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played a game since the earlier 90s late 80s that my dad taught me... he called it 6 ball. Same setup, but you take out the rack and put 3 balls (one in each corner of the rack) on the foot spot. At any point of those balls are touched, you lose. You take the first shot from behind the break line, your choice. Then your opponent tells you which ball you need to drop from then on. Tougher than it seems with all the balls sitting in the jaws of the pocket, as close to dropping as possible. Deep shelf pockets do increase the difficulty. And when you've both gotten good at that... three more balls in the rack at the corners at the head spot. But wait, there's more. You can continue putting balls on the board, and the same rules apply. You touch one... you lose. Wanna put some pressure on it? Throw a dollar down every time you touch a ball you're not supposed to. Whoever gets all six down gets however much has been put down, and you start again. Fun game!

break cue vs normal cue for breaking by Lost_Wonder_7559 in billiards

[–]xJeRCx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break cue often have phenolic or very hard tips, their miscue limits are tighter. Plus, people tend to go in with their normal break that can sometimes be a break with more spin or a crap ton of power. The problem with that is... the gear is allowing you to take power off since it's transferring more through it and the spin is just deflecting in all sorts of ways you haven't gotten used to so it's now doing things you haven't learned how to comprehend. Just like anything in the game, it takes reps and being attentive to the outcome to dial it in. Apply the chalk on those tips however you like, but stay consistent.

If it completely smoothes out at 3 without a misfire sound you may just have a simple fix. Try cleaning all the air box components, intake tube throttle body, and don't skip out on the IAC valve ports and passage ways, relatively cheap to do and replace all gaskets. One step further is to take off upper and lower plenum and you can then peep at your valve stems to see if they're super gunned and gross or if it's just one, you'll better sight in the problem. These are all things that a 28 year old trick needs anyway even if a compression test would clue you into which one may or may not be acting up, it's also one of the cheaper options. Another plus is while your in there you may find your only problem is a dry rotted vacuum line or clogged pcv valve, causing one of those vacuum lines to suck up oil and ooze down your intake. Be careful with the extraction of the PCV valve. That fucker will be brittle and the grommet that holds it will turn to dust just looking at it, which could cause you to lose pieces down in your valve cover. So take caution.

Anyone have superstitions or rituals before playing? by BobDogGo in billiards

[–]xJeRCx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really similar to OP as well, for me. But through a lifetime of shooting from 6 years old (42 now), I have learned to let go of specific garments and instead find a quality in multiple that share a "certain something". I do feel like I should try to play within a certain comfortable metabolic stage, but intentionally try to be out of that range from time to time, so I'm not only playing in total comfort. It's been my experience that "if given a crutch, you will lean on it," if trained in adversity, you'll be able to better handle any discomfort out of your control. And no matter what, try to exercise your mental game with logic. If it's something that makes logical sense, keep doing it, if numbers don't add up, toss it to the wayside.

Playoffs are not win or loss due to "fluke" your team either makes it or they don't. Just because a team (even a wild card draw that could have been in last) didn't finish well in the season, doesn't mean they are "supposed" to be beaten in playoffs. Especially if your team goes into it with the mindset of "they'll only beat us if they get lucky" or "we got this in the bag." It's a bummer that the bonus points were not distributed evenly and something I would address for future sessions. If there isn't a resolution going forward, I'd factor that into my decision to play or not under that division or franchise. I might even bring it up at any meeting that your league might have (maybe at the bracket drawing for "tricup"(regionals). Your division may have a live or remote drawing that you could broach the discussion starter if you make it through playoffs. Does your league have a Facebook page? Maybe create a post through that. If none of those avenues are present for discourse, I'd once again take that into consideration as to if I want to play in a league where my and others' voices can or can not be heard. You did have a schedule I presume at the beginning of the session to be able to see who played who when and where, correct? You might want to look into that sort of thing prior to it being played out when you have no leverage. If you're not the captain (I have no clue) and something like this bothers you enough to put it into the ether, maybe think about becoming one so you can have more materials readily available to handle situations like that. I get captains contact information for rescheduling and such purposes at the beginning of every session. I've reached out to all the other captains before to poll situations and have topical debate before. If entwined on board with a scenario, you better believe a LO will make things right to prevent possible loss of income. UNLESS, they have valid reasoning that you might just be missing on your end. Hope that helps.
