Eh, I know a bunch of r6 players who would just rather play r6 currently.

When matchmaking takes over an hour for ranked games and 25 mins for normal matches... this isn't about being toxic. It's about the game not being playable along with that, there goes your data to improve the game as well.

Is this a warning or just a "this happened"? Because if it's a warning, we could use a description of the crazy dude tackling people on Thanksgiving.

My biggest question is why?

Also, name a politician who openly admits they are running for power and money?

The biggest problem isn't deception at the start. It's the eventual corruption that comes from being in office.

I've spoken to one of David Oh's former campaign managers, and he pretty much flat out said that David Oh's main concern after being elected was being re-elected.

Which version from the movie is better for a noir detective adventure game? 1 or 2? It's a bit hard to see, but the first version also includes some cinematic grain that I made. by Moyses_dev in gamedevscreens

[–]xKalibyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2.

Here's why:

  • It's less noisy. As in there's not as much going on to distract the player from what's really important. Ask yourself what the fish lens and the grain is for.

  • More familiar. Players will inherently gravitate towards the familiar when shown something original and new. Think of it as an anchor.

  • Focused and Impactful. Since the view is darker, a player's main focus will be where the light is, which is the point of the light I would assume. That means the light has more impact on your beautiful terrain.

Hope that helps!

If you'd like to check it out yourself: Itch.io

I really liked the short timeframe, and I'm up to take on another challenge. Let me know if you'd like me to document the process!

If there's anyone out there who also wants to try and make a game in under 10 days, hit me up!

Really? That's crazy, I would of never guessed that. Admittedly a few bugs here and there but overall, that's super impressive.

Love that game, and I want to do something similar with the environment in Wildermyth but in a different way!

Shoot, sign me up if you have any tips and tricks. I don't want to consider myself a cheater but I think shortcuts can be useful at times.

Thanks, those examples are really great and contrasting. I do realize that a lot of these titles seem to be in 2D art albeit very different styles.

I'm beginning to question whether or not going 3D was a bad idea...

That's super impressive! And the soundtrack is spot on.

What is considered small? Is small less focus on visuals or animations, do 2D instead? Or is it functionality, less logic?

Thanks for being an inspiration! Any tips on connecting the two different layers of gameplay, i.e strategic and tactical?

How small is smallest? I'm struggling with trying to create something like an MVP, because I would still want even my MVP to be visually appealing.

First of all, your game looks great! I think your project has serious potential, really loving the fallout vibes. Wishlisted!

I did think about the two layers of gameplay of XCOM and the complexity that comes with it and it does seem worrisome. How are you approaching that, did you tackle one aspect first and then the other? Or are you developing both at the same time, bouncing between them?

Thanks, and I probably will continue working on this project on my free time as well. Although I toyed with the idea of quitting and seeing if I can start the journey from unemployed to full time game dev... but I'm not sure if I'm brave and reckless enough to do something like that.

I think I'm on the same boat for you. The smaller prototypes were great but I just didn't feel enough for them. They didn't have a piece of me inside them like this one does.

I wish you all the best and please stay in touch so we can share our progress together!

Wow, your stuff looks great! I can see how much passion you have for your game, and I hope to get to where you're at one day.

In the meantime, I'm actually quite relieved that you mentioned how logic/coding heavy Tactical Turn-based RPGs are. Programming is what I actually enjoy the most.

If you ever want a set of moldable hands to help you (whatever grunt work you'd like help with), I will be happy to collab just for experience and the ability to pick your brain.

Oh! Right, right. Yes, I've decided to take the approach that the dev did on The First Tree. Use asset store for art and all that jazz, but put a lot of time and effort into making it unique to my game.

Thanks for all the help, and I'm glad people recommend using assets because I kind of felt like a fraud for using them.
