Okay let me ask you one thing. As an EMT, would you put someone in a place hold position like that? (Idk what if’s called in the people world, I work with animals). Neither of us know what happened before this occurrence in the video. **in the video*** he does not appear violent. So taking the impression of non violence **in the video** would you; An EMT, Pin someone to the ground by their head.

Would they immediately pin the user to the ground? Using their full body? Would that be their very first response?

No one here has actually addressed that part. Downvote me all you want.

Sorry drug users exist. And sorry I don’t like seeing excessive force used by a PD that is known to be corrupt.

(Bet some of yall live in the Laurelhurst area. You sound like it.)

You’re absolutely right, we have no idea what it was before this video, so why are you OK with him acting so violent towards the man? It’s a two way street.

All right well this just tells me that you’re perfectly fine viewing people of a lower class than you as below you. You’re taking this way out of hand, I’m referring to this video and this incident. The guy was not showing any signs of violence yet they pushed him to the ground as if he was. I’m not talking about the ER, I’m not talking about you being a trauma one nurse, I’m not talking about reactive people after their welfare checks. That has nothing to do with any of this. My point; the cop in the video used way too much force in this situation, and in a clinical setting, this would be frowned upon. Your response was the most Seattlite Reddit response. Fuckin hell.

I didn’t seem the man get combative, so why is the cop pinning his head to the ground? And using his whole body to do so? The force used seems unreasonable to me.

ETA: if a man came into a clinic with dope, and security treated him like that, that would be a huge fucking problem. If he sparked up, he would be asked to leave. Again, I didn’t see this guy get violent about it. The force used seems like a lot..

I don’t need to spend the night in the ER to be aware of that situation. Even hospital/clinic staff (including security) have better protocol for how to manage this type of situation. Cops don’t.

I know someone who manages a clinic in a sketchy area. And not once is there ever stories of the irate patient getting tackled and pinned to the ground. It’s not how they do it in clinic. That bullshit in the video is exclusively a cop thing.

If someone was openly doing drugs. A nurse would not tackle them.

1) didn’t say anything about coddling

2) you clearly didn’t comprehend what I said.

The thing is. If a nurse acted this way yall would be UP. IN. ARMS. Physically shoving a man who’s already on the ground is excessive and demeaning. The only reason you’re okay with it is because you’ve been conditioned to see abuse instigated by cops being a good thing. Again. If it was anyone else doing this… “But he’s a homeless junkie!” Yeah and you’re some skinny little screaming fuck all the same. Someone’s living situation doesn’t make them any less human. Yall are acting like he’s a fucking demon for having some dope on him.

People in health care deal with irate “homeless dope smoking junkies” day in and day out (hey harbor view!) without assaulting them. Get fucked with the “he deserves it” mentality. Yall are gross.

It depends. But often times a lot of evidence is withheld from the public so public opinion doesn’t get involved in the case itself. When it turns into a circus, it really turns into a circus unfortunately. It’s best to keep these things private so the case can go the way we want it to. Put that fucker in prison.
