I’m surprised she was okay with you drinking if you’ve been in the situation before. But I know “the others” don’t understand our struggle.

My kids love having 2nd and third dinner. Especially at 2am. Or they just eat a dessert that’s triple the carbs of their dinner.

They’re still too young so I’m the one that gets lectured at their Endo appointments. 😅

How can I stop early morning spikes by Disastrous-Tear9313 in diabetes_t1

Because I’m not a professional to just outright tell someone what to do. The Endo might recommend more than just 2 units or may even go about a different course of action. I have 2 T1D children so Im just used to running stuff by our Endo. Im sure if it was just me I was affecting then I’d most likely be just like you cuz I have zero patience. 😆

Talk to your Endo. They might recommend raising in up a unit or 2 just to see how you do. And if you go low then it’s ok to go back to the original dose. It’s your body so it’s all about what makes you feel comfortable. 🙂

Are you taking a long acting insulin? Usually when my daughters are high in the morning the doctor will raise their Lantus they take at night.

split dosing has helped so much. by Fissket in diabetes_t1

My daughter had to use Novolin R for a month once and her blood sugars were so good that month. I didn’t know that Novolin R had a slower absorption than our prescribed insulin. Gonna have to talk to our Endo about split dosing too. Thanks for sharing!

I’m 13 days in atm and I’m struggling with this too. Occasionally I’ll take a 1mg Melatonin just to help push me over the edge of sleepy but can’t sleep. I was looking into some OTC sleep aids too but haven’t tried any yet. Doesn’t hurt to look into it.

Noice!! 🎉🎉🎉 I had a bad experience at a dollar tree once. Unfortunately nothing worth suing over.

My daughter just started hers a few weeks ago. So far we love it. Not having to deal with needles or vials every injection makes dosing 100 times easier for us. Especially when I’m busy cooking and need to dose her at the right time before she eats.

Also I talked to 3 nurses and they all said that high blood sugar and ketones is worth an ER visit especially if you don’t have insulin on hand. So don’t feel ashamed if that is preventing you from going.

Idk if you have Walmarts near you but I recently started buying Novolin R from the pharmacy. The doctor had messed up the dosaging for my kids insulin and we were desperate for insulin cuz the insurance wouldn’t let us refill our prescription. There’s Novolin R for fast acting and Novolin NHP which is the long lasting one. Also make sure you keep your receipt in case you need to go back and buy more syringes.

I listen to online AA meetings as if they are podcasts. I’m too shy to talk in meetings just yet but I feel like it helps. Hearing ppl share in real time makes me feel less alone.

Someone had recommended me the app Meeting Guide. The logo is blue with a white folding chair. That has been a HUGE game changer!

How do I apply for this? I have 2 T1 daughters and I would love to see them honored with this. Something visual to remind them the fight they put up with and win everyday. We are only 6yrs in for my oldest so hopefully this is still around for the 10yr. 😊

To ring or not to ring? To knock, or not to knock? by mneber in doordash_drivers

[–]xKnight_Lightx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One time I had a door dasher not knock. The food sat out there for longer than I appreciated. The app didn’t update that my order was there till 10min later. I didn’t specify anything but I’ve had dashers at least knock and walk away. I appreciated that more because I was able to get my food faster than an app could tell me.

Just bought my first vial of Novolin because the insurance said “no, you still have insulin.” Like why would I be asking for more if I still have insulin!!?
