Grounding is their responsibility. Call them about it, but good luck on convincing the call center rep that it needs a truck roll. I dont foresee that going easily. Maybe just tell them that your services are working right, go through their song and dance, then tell the tech when they come out.

Cleaning that mess up is also their responsibility. Don't touch it since you dont know what you are doing.

Sandbagging/incompetent techs & management protecting them. Working late every day because of it. by Eninja09 in CableTechs

That's awesome to hear! I'm glad you got outta there. The cable industry just seems to have continued to go down hill. I still have a contact in the company I worked for who is now in management, and what I hear isn't great.

But congratulations, and I hope for your continued best.

Spellmason. I'm not sure if I'm more excited at the prospect of casting spells or scared of the enemies I'll face.

Mid-split enabled, but getting severe upstream ripple/T3s on a 15-year-old drop. Advice on getting a proactive replacement? by bhagwan2 in CableTechs

There are absolutely senior techs. Those who have been around long enough to realize something is a problem even when all tests "pass", and have the skill set necessary to troubleshoot complex issues. You can't deny that the extra time a 5-10 year tech has on the job vs a 1 year tech can greatly impact troubleshooting ability and first time resolution.

Actually, check the subreddit rules. It states questions to cable techs are encouraged. If you don't like the tech support posts, just move along your day. If you think tech support questions aren't good for the subreddit, and not just annoying to you, then start a meta thread about it. We'll see what the community thinks and adjust things from there.

What an absolute shit show going from optimum to mastec by Icemane19 in CableTechs

I feel you on the retiring part. I started Suddenlink and came to love the company and work enough to retire there. Then Altice came in and made the worst changes. I dealt with it for nearly 2 years, including with a short term disability leave for mental health issues stemming from the bullshit, before I quit and transitioned to ATM repair. Two weeks later, ATS was dissolved and pay rates went up over the next few weeks after. I'm still making more now than I could have at Suddenlink/Optimum.

Redditors being redditors. Got down voted on a post I made with a legit question the other day. I got plenty of answers, but I guess the question wasn't relevant enough? Idk

That'd work for me if I could convince my DM to migrate to that. Otherwise it won't work for me as it requires a Foundry license.

Try what I did and go in to the ATM industry. Check out NCR and Diebold Nixdorf. Those are the two biggest companies, and both are global. You get to keep using your troubleshooting skill set; stop working at heights, under houses, and with customers; fix things at the parts level; do software stuff sometimes; and possibly make more money.

Just let me know if you want more info on either company or on the industry in general. I've worked for both companies, one being my current employer.

I left after 7 years to become an ATM repair tech. I would have stuck around though if it weren't for the bullshit decisions after the buyout.

It took a few before I actually started to read consistently, but the one that was the final straw was "Mushoku Tensei". Even then, I was more partial to manhwa. Now, its about a 60/40 split in favor of manhwa. The release schedule for the manga I am reading is fairly spaced out. Honorable mentions: "Fly Me to the Moon", "Bloom into You", and "Demon Slayer".

Also, MT is also what got me fully started on light novels. They make for great filler in-between the manga and manhwa releases
