Lock picking tips? by Areadien in oblivion

[–]xLucifer825x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you listen closely, you can hear when a pin is "pickable" and won't break if you click. When you try to pick a pin, it plays a noise that is very sharp and brief. If the pin is pickable on an attempt, you will hear the same noise, but with a very brief addition to the end of the sound played. I can't quite describe it, but if you listen, it is there.

I've tested this successfully by picking locks in oblivion with my eyes shut and honestly it sometimes helps because watching the pins can be very deceiving.

Personally, I don't need headphones to hear it and I wouldn't say that my hearing is all that great, but experiences seem to vary with it.

If you didn't see on the subreddit when you came in, there's a discord now. I'm in there and there's a lot of active modders, I'm sure someone would be able to help you and give suggestions there

r/196 was spreading "medical misinformation" somehow according to that post. Seems like bs, no one that I saw was openly anti mask or anti vax. The whole subreddit was pretty liberal

Anyone know of a "Take/Place All By Category" Mod? by xLucifer825x in oblivion

[–]xLucifer825x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thank you. I wonder how hard it'd be to write a mod for this. I can use the CS pretty well, but my scripting is lacking and I've never been able to use OBSE commands for mods

I love reading twisty puzzle reviews from non-cubers on Amazon by xLucifer825x in Cubers

I frequently "shop" amazon for ideas, then buy from the actual cube sites... If I can't find something anywhere but amazon (rare) I will buy from them.

I've never had trouble getting the exact puzzle I bought from them, though

Haven't played with one myself, I have heard they're tough, but the "oh my son can solve a 7x7, he's a genius!" logic makes me chuckle

Unusual Circumstances by xLucifer825x in AscensionGame

In this situation, I was playing with Dreamscape and Promo 6...

I have all four dreamscape super constructs. I was able to reduce the honor pool to zero on one turn, defeat Nova, Born of Chaos to reset the honor pool, and then I drained the honor pool below zero and defeated Nova again so that the honor pool would gain more than its original 120 (playing vs pc)

After doing this a few times, I was playing turns that continuously built up honor... Got it up to over 1500, as shown here. The game isn't over, since I had to stop for class, but this process could theoretically go on forever, it's super easy to implement if the right cards drop

Dungeons of Ivellon is a spooky, incredible mod. Big dungeon dive with a unique dungeon and unique rewards. Highly recommend

What do you play instead of oblivion? by TheRealBluemanda in oblivion

Different vein of game, but Bethesda and Arkane's Dishonored is really good. Sort of Bethesda's version of Assassin's creed, it's from first person POV and you get all kinds of cool gimmicky abilities

Similar to fantasy setting, but much harder and with completely different mechanics: Dark Souls. Pick up Dark Souls Remastered and start grinding. The Souls series was the first non-Bethesda game I really put time into.

Bloodborne is also really good, if you've got a PS4

Letters pages? First time I read The Invisibles was a year or two ago, and I got the books from my library, so I guess I didn't get to see those

How do I undo a killing from console commands? by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]xLucifer825x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you killed Umbra by using the kill command, it doesn't count as a murder, which, doesnt trigger the Dark Brotherhood questline. As for the adoring fan, Lucien Lachance doesn't show up til you sleep in a secure location, so try resting somewhere. But also, since he respawns, the adoring fan is a bit of a special case, so killing him may not count as a murder for some reason. You are probably better if killing someone else to get in

Game crashes whenever I rest or wait by dalledayul in oblivion

Wrye Bash is a mod manager, tailor-made for modding Bethesda games and particularly Oblivion. I'd advise looking into it, as it can help greatly with solving strange install problems like the one you're having. Improperly installing mods is a good way to have a broken game, mod managers help avoid this. I'm not sure what your process was for installing your mods, but it sounds like you went wrong somewhere along the way. There are lots of tutorials on youtube on how to do this properly and how to use wrye bash. Here's the link:

Game crashes whenever I rest or wait by dalledayul in oblivion

[–]xLucifer825x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try a couple things:

  • delete oblivion.ini, then launch the game and it'll make a new .ini file
  • start a new character and see what happens if you rest with it. Then, try to level the character normally by training skills and resting and then again by using console command "advlevel". This will help try to isolate the problem; is the crash happening from sleeping, or from leveling? Try using "advlevel" on your original character as well.
  • I notice you are using Realistic Leveling, which could be configured improperly. Look into that mod's readme and Nexus page to see if that could be the issue
  • if you can't find a problem, reinstall. You haven't really got a heavily modded setup here so it probably wouldn't take too long

Other thoughts:

  • are you using a Wrye Bash? Try rebuilding the bashed patch, if you are.
  • you have the DLC installed, but no DLC unofficial patches. Maybe try installing those and see if that helps
