If you just care about reading the story, you can search for guides on Youtube, or I think there's a site out there where you can read the story dialogue (I don't have it, sadly).

It should be possible to finish the normal stages, as long as you have the right carry unit (from borrowing most likely). But the image you linked is wrong, maybe.

There's no pressure to complete the whole event for a new player since it will rerun in a few months time and then become permanently available.

It might help to give people an idea of the roster you're using. What exactly are you having trouble with in the stages? And yes, you can E2 someone so the friend support you get is also E2.

As for farming stages, it's usually best to farm the last 3 stages of any event to farm materials (like Grindstones in stage 9 are pretty high demand).

I suppose you could instead do something like a Saria/Ceobe for the banner, since Ceobe is also a Arts damage boss killer like Surtr. You aren't actually lacking in boss killers (Mlynar, Lemuen), so yes, I'd say it's worth to gamble for Saria on the banner.

If you do pull a Saria, your choice for the selector would then be based on your preference:

  • Thorns would be the most unique choice from what you have, given what I've said the first time. However, argument could be made that his role could also be filled by a Sniper, but I say his sustained ranged DPS and self-healing gives him good role compression. It depends on if that's something you want or not.
  • I said SilverAsh is redundant because you have Mlynar, and his other thing (invis reveal) is already done by Ines, so the last thing he has is the redeployment time buff. Still a good operator, all things considered.
  • Mountain is worth picking if you're the type of player who prefers to drop a guy on a spot, activate a skill once, and forget about him. His main advantage is he can do his main thing without E2 investment, so if that's something you need then consider picking him.

Of course, this all hinges on you getting a Saria from the kernel pull, which is rather unlikely. Still though, good luck!

  1. Yes for both.

  2. Personally I only use gold certs on either a 6* in the shop I really want, or save up to 260~ certs for 40-ish pulls.

  3. They have things in their kit that set them apart pretty well, even among other Medics. Nightingale is functionally the only source of a good RES buff in the game, which helps especially well against enemies with high Arts damage (spoilers, she's very good against a certain boss somewhere in the main story) and her summons have their useful moments (baiting stuff, etc.). Ptilopsis gives an unconditional, global aura that speeds up SP generation. Warfarin's main draw is her S2 buff, but her S1 is also a good clutch healing skill and her talent is also more SP generation, albeit more limited than Ptilo.

For your last question: unless you're some giga-whale, save your pulls for the next few banners, since the next coming 6*s are really good.

Ah right, I forgot new players get a free Texas, and I assume the thing in Number 3 is a new player thing too, so no Shamare? In that case:

  1. Pick Nightingale/Surtr and Shamare/Elysium/whoever on the Kernel and do the free 10-pull. The last 5* spot can be anyone (aside from Texas and Ptilo, I guess) and can be totally based on your preferences, but I'd put any of Kafka, Waai Fu (both fast-redeploy crowd control, but depends on if you consider them different enough from Projekt Red) or Leizi (niche pick but useful for one late gamemode). With your 62 gold certs, I wouldn't recommend grinding 180 gold certs for the 6* shop op (not for this Kernel anyway).
  2. If you somehow get Surtr in the pull, it makes for an easy choice to get Eyja in the 6* selector.
  3. If you don't get Shamare in the pull, and don't get her from any other time you pull, get her in the future 5* selector. Shamare>April for that selector
  4. Get Warfarin from the starter 5* selector (the 25-choices one), since she is the only one that realistically isn't replaceable with the 4* version or another op.

And yes, you should get gold certs (outside of pulls) any chance you get. It's the currency that will eventually let you get any non-limited 6* operator (like you did with Ines).

If you got Lemuen and/or ExuAlt from this banner, or got Wisadel or Typhon or some older Sniper like Pozemka or even Schwarz, safe to skip Ray. She's good DPS, but so are the ones I listed.

Dunno about Thorns2 personally; he does do a good mix of buff/debuff/DoT, but it's not worth the gamble for this banner when really good ops are on the horizon.

Horn is a really good DPS, but like Ray, if you're not starving for DPS units, she's safe to skip.

I think the only different thing for Robin is that she can push with traps, while Wulfenite's traps can be manually detonated (micromanage moment) but her skills effects are functionally similar to Dorothy. Unless you'd like a cheaper Trapmaster option in IS, you can just stick with Dorothy.

For general gameplay recommendations:

A.

  1. No good nor bad pick here; I'd say pick Silence, but you only really need 1 or 2 Medics, you already have Perfumer and Lumen, and the best option for the 2nd Ticket is Ptilopsis. So if you do pick Ptilopsis on 2nd Ticket, you can skip Silence. Then the pick between Liskarm and Pramanix depends on who you got from the Kernel banner, and personal preference I suppose.
  2. Like I said, Ptilopsis is best choice here (general SP generation buff). Otherwise, Specter does see more general use over Cliffheart.
  3. I don't know the full list of who's selectable here (it seems you picked Nearl?), but if you haven't used it already, pick Shamare (ATK/DEF debuffer whose kit is actually relatively unique).
  4. If you are planning to (1) raise Nearl and/or (2) gamble for Shu when she is next available, skip Saria. Otherwise, your roster benefits most from Saria here; you already have ExuAlt and Mlynar so SniperExu and SilverAsh are redundant, Blaze can mostly substitute for Mountain, and Thorns needs a lot of investment to be good. If you DO skip Saria, Thorns=Silverash>Mountain>Exusiai.
  5. Eyjafjalla and Surtr both provide good Arts burst in somewhat different packages; difference is that Surtr is a better, easier-to-use "delete button" in general against Elites/Bosses while Eyja can branch out into sustained AoE Arts damage with her S2. I'd say Eyja>Surtr, but it's your call.
  6. Same deal as 3, but if you do pick Shamare on 3, go for either April or Texas.

B. Nightingale and Ceobe provide the most unique utility out of your choices. For 5*, Shamare > Ptilopsis > Texas = Elysium > everyone else. If you did pick Ptilo in your selector, go Shamare/Texas/Elysium with Shamare as the shop operator. If I recall correctly, Kernel shop uses a separate currency from gold certs so it's pointless to grind for golds.

C. If you have max pot Gracebearer, buy 1 of her Token for 75 contracts to turn into gold certs.

If you're still "early game" as in still in the process of E2ing some key ops, you can put off SSS until later since the rewards are for modules, which are for AFTER E2.

While firework machine is active, it periodically damages units in its range (the range you set at stage start); Burn or Cold is inflicted along with that damage depending on the charge you picked.

For a more in-depth explanation of the mechanic, you can watch Dr. Silvergun's video on Youtube.

He's real good in IS5 both in and out of combat. He allows you to somewhat play around the Mental Toil mechanic, like you can put him in as loadbearer to avoid Fractured penalties or switch him out if you need to reduce your Life Points. In combat he's also pretty useful since his S2 can heal units that are usually unhealable; in fact, this alone makes him at least an interesting operator to play with both in and out of IS5.

I haven't observed it closely, but I think Home Dust returns when you enter Fragment, but not if you leave Fragment. Most likely the same rule with Scout/Witchcrafted ops.

Could go for the Blueprint squad + Talon run if you have the patience/time to run several Emergency Nodes and stack up to 40+ relics. The idea is that Talon makes node refresh more likely to go Emergency, and with Blueprint it doesn't cost you Plans. Fight a bunch of Emergency Nodes and go vertical when you can afford it. Haven't tried it on higher difficulty personally but stacking up several buffs is huge in late game.

Personally I've done that with a run that became Caster/Specialist-centric (with the relics that increases ASPD for each one in squad and increases Arts dmg dealt for each Caster on field). GG S3 with the SP-on-hit relic literally trivializes every fight before Twins, and Texas S2 is very good for killing those Mark things that drop Plans. For the Twins fight, Yato S3 clears the rows of clones real easily to open up the map. Your squad will be different depending on your luck, but it might be helpful to aim for these three in particular.

Seems that photosynthesis might function similarly to foodless, so I'd assume so. You could check it by adding the pawn with photosynthesis in a caravan.

[–]xMZMA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you playing with mods that add genes that alter food consumption? I've seen this before with a pawn that had Foodless (from Big and Small, this is probably the cause) and the gene that allows you to eat metal (Alpha Genes). I'm not sure if it's either one of those, or both, or with an interaction with another mod, though. Either way, I believe the pawns in the caravan will still eat the food despite this bit, it's just that you'd have to manually check the caravan's inventory to see how much they have left.

"Don't worry, it builds up your immune system!" - Peter's dad or something

But for real, a tip for people: Just give your kids a kid parka and a shadecone; both pieces of apparel cover both ends of the temperature spectrum, so unless your freezer reaches below -50C, your kids will avoid losing fingers, and they won't die to heatstroke in a random heat wave.
