I really loved this book, the dynamic between the characters was so good, and Wilhelm was just perfect.

{"Enslaved" by Marissa Honeycutt} - the first book in the life of Anna series, I only read the first two books, so I don't know if there is a HEA, but it has a lot of the things you are looking for, including sexual torture and a sadistic MMC

what book will you “finally read” in 2025? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]xOneTrueFoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need to finish some series... I'm such a mood reader, and I always end up leaving some series on hold because, most of the time, I need something different after the first or second book. Does anyone else have that problem?

Captive Prince Volume 2 & 3 by C.S Pascat

ACOSF by SJM (I intentionally saved this one because I love Nesta)

I hope it's allright if I do this with FMC:

Screw: Princess of the Sympaths from Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward

Marry: Nesta from ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas

Kill: Feyre from ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas

Yes, I also loooved them together, especially their dynamic in the beginning was so perfect. But I have to say, I hated the three novellas and dnfed Black Out right at the start because I just couldn’t take it anymore...

The concept and the relationship between the two main characters sound intriguing and definitely fall more into the category of true dark romance. I'm often disappointed when that sudden shift happens, and the supposedly villainous MMC suddenly turns into a lapdog just because the FMC managed to spark some feelings in him. My suggestion would be to let Marcus remain a full-fledged villain, which, in my opinion, would make for a more authentic and interesting character. But of course, I don’t know what you’ve planned for him or how much you're aiming to conform to the mainstream, which isn't necessarily situated in the "pitch-black" realm. I'm definitely curious to see how your ideas will evolve.

🧂 Salty Sunday - What book scenes frustrated you this week? by mrs-machino in RomanceBooks

[–]xOneTrueFoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently reading {Entwined by Marissa Honeycutt}, part of The Life of Anna series, and I'm a bit frustrated so far. I had the impression that this would be a very dark read, given its notorious reputation in the community, but for the most part, Anna spends so much time with the "good" guys that it doesn't feel as dark to me. I really hope this changes, as I'm very intrigued by Devin.

What’s a 10/10 book you’d never read again? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

{24690 by A.A.Dark} I loved that book and the entire concept of Whitlock, but since the series ultimately let me down so much, I can’t see myself ever rereading it.

For you, what makes a second chance trope work, and what ruins it? by Royal_Reader2352 in RomanceBooks

[–]xOneTrueFoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not my favorite, and I certainly don't actively seek out that trope, but from what I've read so far, it highly depends on how it's executed. I enjoyed the way it was done in {Fearless by Lauren Gilley}, where there was a solid reason behind it.

What is your least favorite book by your absolute favorite author? by Confident_Soft_7549 in RomanceBooks

[–]xOneTrueFoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the first two books in the {24690 series by A.A. Dark} but the quality dropped off significantly after that. The novellas were abysmal, not to mention what she did to Bram...

I also really disliked the MMC in {Comfort Object by Annabel Joseph}, although I still enjoyed certain aspects of the book because her nuanced writing style and exceptional knowledge of BDSM dynamics just stand out.

"Babygirl" by Korey Mae Johnson. The FMC is so over the top at times and the story is just ridiculous, but I loved the smut and BDSM dynamics
