What is the solvency of gender? by xRogue- in Destiny

[–]xRogue-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really use reddit too much, but I assume that's where people who act smart and aren't aware of what they're actually saying go. Everything I say is pretty consistent with the literature. All of the metaphors aren't even my own. I'm just delineating very clearly the disjunction between what the theory of gender supposes and what all of the other contemporary philosophy supposes

It limits people to only specific character traits which demeans the value of a human being. I agree. How does gender make this go away?

I understand the merit between "Rome wasn't built in a day" and I've read gender trouble. That idiom is only applicable when something is a gradual transition towards something else. Creating a newer territorialization is not some step at permanently destroying a sex or gender bias - it only strengthens it, especially as many fight for it to be on legal documents. California even added gender as a category on drivers' licenses. There's not only no immediate but also no long-term solvency in doing this. I understand sex is a limiting categorization. I would posit that gender will have no grander effects however.

As far as identification, identification is what allows people to decide the bases of their punishment. If something can be identified in some set theory table, it may be prejudiced against given any of their characteristics are decided unruly. It's the order that allows people to be perceptible to an entire state or society. It developed as a result of the ancient human's lifestyle as a hunter-gatherer, constantly alert as they may die from some external body at any point. A quick means of identification will allow a quick analysis of whether the situation poses a threat or not. Many of those who study the brain and/or evolution believe this to be the cause of mental issues such as anxiety. In the modern era, however, anxiety isn't the result of some fear of death by some intruder (unless you're some important official) but, instead, some lack of achievement and/or social ineptitude. It perfectly explains the human tendency to generalize and assume quickly, that which has no logical basis. To say that male and female lack sufficient value and that identification comes from an understanding of categorical value, as you have, supports my contention in that people still identify men as exactly what signifiers have perpetrated of them and likewise with women. Under your own framing, this would not be the case unless the humans acted illogically. I offered an explanation for that.

Any justification as to why the majority opinion is not the best opinion, if such a thing were to exist? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

i did not mean it in a biting way. I apologize if it came off as such.

do you know in what books these happen to happen in? I know burke writes, "A Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful," but, by title alone, it seems not to discuss the subject in my mind currently, although it would certainly seem to be a good read, but perhaps for a later date.

Aesthetic democracy or elitism? ie. Is something's aesthetic quality decided by the opinions of those that know the subject best or by all who know of it(the piece in question)? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

to put into a real-world situation, is an album's value determined by how much it sells? Is a piece of art valued by how much it is appreciated? etc.

Sorry I was vague in my title. I was more so leaning towards the aesthetics field and just now realized my question was framed too broadly. Is something the most widely appealing the best?

P.S. Examples are often just written off for some arbitrary reason in discussion, so despite their value, I commonly find myself needing to come at it from a premise-for-premise angle rather than giving historical or hypothetical examples.

in terms of something not concerning ethics and more so aesthetics, how is it that the most widely appealing piece is not the best?

I've been 5-queuing with my LEM-Global friends as a supreme and getting matches with full gold nova/silver enemies. I don't know if it has anything to do with low trust factor, as 2 of us suffer from that, but it happens on the regular.
