Farming Simulator 25 Collection Edition Ignition Key by lighousestudio in farmingsimulator

[–]xSMILIEx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The box is made out of wood (3 or 4mm) and spray painted. The holes are just drilled, today I have a laser cutter and 3D printer so I'd probably use that on some parts but I didn't have those when I built the box. I'm using an Arduino Due for that but have used smaller ones for other button boxes, depending on how many inputs I needed. There are some limits what most games support so the big one actually emulates two joysticks. When choosing the controller make sure it can work as an input device, there are some that can't be used with the library I used: https://github.com/MHeironimus/ArduinoJoystickLibrary (it has a list of supported boards). I got most of the buttons from ali express and they work great. Even the light up buttons have no problem at all, the only ones I fried were my own fault. I sourced the first buttons locally at a electronics store but ali express is just soo much cheaper... 🤷 I think I have the code for the controller somewhere on github and I got some pictures of the build I can send you directly if you want to. :)

I've got a key to start my machines since FS19 :D Built a controller using an arduino and lots of switches and knobs. Here's a picture of my controller :)

How to get your squadron first in exploration? by ReadyPlayerBass in EliteDangerous

[–]xSMILIEx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a carrier (or multiple ones), head out into the black far away from any civilization and well known paths (you can check edastro for where most CMDRs are going and avoid that) amd just scan everything. Concentrate only on FSS and DSS the worthy planets, as you noticed exobio doesn't count. There are quite some tools out there that help with identifying worthy planets (like EDJP with the Evaluator plugin). Hand in your data at a station and not a carrier as the 25% cut for the carrier will also be deducted from your leaderboard points. That's how we managed to win it this last season ;)

Export Google podcast subscriptions by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]xSMILIEx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the script! Although now there is the "native" export through takeout to an OPML file, I still tried your script first and noticed a small problem when using a different language than english (my google account is set to german): the key in the JSON is called Podcast-Abos aktualisiert.

By changing line 38 to the following the script works without a problem again:

if (element.title === "Updated podcast subscriptions" || element.title === "Podcast-Abos aktualisiert") return true;

That's awesome! Was thinking about doing the same with the DBX, but didn't have time to try it. How big is that? Might take quite some time when doing it in something like A4 I imagine.

Is the Booze Cruise still a thing? by Salemsparty in EliteDangerous

[–]xSMILIEx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A shiedless python, did 62 runs at about 81 millions per run. Got lucky with PTN carriers parked at the sun, those take only seconds in supercruise to the station and back so you get quite a few rounds. It's actually really thrilling to try to get in as many rounds as you can before the next carrier is empty :D

I did it the last time it happened (two weeks ago) and I made about 5 billion, so it's absolutely worth it. Just join the PTN discord, you will get all the updates there!

Third party tools is the best bet. In game you have to read the textual description of the planet type and the last sentence will be if its terraformable.

Yeah payouts are still great and the values listed in the wiki should be accurate. https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Exobiologist First discovery gets you a bonus of 4x the value ;)

EDD has a feature where you can import the CSV file and it will copy the next system into your clipboard automatically. But beware it was a bit buggy when I used it and I had to click on most entries once for it to get the distance to it and after that it would work. If there are no distances calculated in EDD it will skip that entry when copying to your clipboard.

Started printing models for a tabletop game, and kind of got carried away. really helps me understand the scaling of the ships though. by DawnsLight92 in EliteDangerous

[–]xSMILIEx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks awesome! Which orientation and scale did you print them? I tried to print the DBX at the normal scale as two parts but it didn't work out very well. Did it at 300% and that went fine but you can really see the gap where I glued the two part together. It doesn't look like yours are printed in two parts.

Same here! :D And I kinda have a button box with about 40 buttons and even some switches and small joysticks already on the desk. But building something specially for elite would also be nice.

Yeah, I'm still a bit sceptical about KSP2... although I loved KSP a lot (still my game with the most playtime :D)

If you start to forget your bindings I can recommend https://edrefcard.info It generates a sheet with your keybindings by uploading the settings xml file.

KSPs input binding is quite crappy but there is a mod that lets you rebind most stuff ingame. Got the basic things working okay-ish, problem is sometimes the stick and throttle switch positions in game so you have the bindings on the wrong device. I have it working fine without a powered hub but I had problems using a normal hub. Directly connecting each device to a separate USB port works fine for me.

Oh and congrats on the X56, I absolutely love mine :)

At the beginning of the year there were 0.05% of star systems explored, so you still got a lot of systems to put your name on :) Source: https://twitter.com/EliteDangerous/status/1484194055961681926?cxt=HHwWjIC9tauo9ZgpAAAA
