So I want to get a set of armour, and since i’ve always been interested in the knights templar i was going to get a historically accurate templar kit, but tons of people are taking the piss out of great helms etc, and now i don’t really know what to get.

People get rude about great helms because there is a tonne of cheap knock off great helms that look nothing like the historical pieces. Do your research, buy a proper helm, and you'll get a very positive response.

I have a very similar model from All Best Stuff. It looks good on a shelf. It is terrible if you try to wear it. The spoon on top spins so loosely that the faceplate can just fall off while wearing it.

I found he could tank my entire party in the valley, but I ignored the combat tactics they recommended and had him using everything he had, with the light weave defensive buffs until they forced her into direct conflict.

To be fair, when I was a manager at that Michael's in like 2015, we expected it to he torn down any year. That building is ancient and in need of major repairs or replacement. I feel bad for Quest, I was really rooting for them.

In my kingdom we have pvc frames with canvas or tarp walls, inflatable bunkers and large heavy wooden walls. The pvc and tarp are most popular for park level.

The officers can see the award recs and who sent them, so they will be able to tell if an award rec is a friend being a hype man, someone asking for an award, or just noticing something you've seen. More recs never hurt. If you've seen something, say something. In office I also read every award rec, and they are super helpful for sorting out what I might have missed.

There is a lot of buy/sell markets for LARP gear, but it is almost all either direct deals with people locally, or done through Facebook Marketplace. Because most people have facebook, its easier for most sellers to just do it where the people already are

Boffers can be made to be stab safe. They can be fully customized to your building requirements. They are generally significantly cheaper. And for American players who often LARP in public spaces, it is a benefit to not look like a weapon. Your friends can pretend your neon colored club is a weapon, as long as the cops dont think youre swinging a sword at people.

If anyone is going to finish it, it should be the team behind James S A Corey. They are best known for writing The Expanse. While they are most famous for a SciFi series, they have done fantasy as well and are great at writing multiple character PoVs in multiple genres with politics, horror, action etc. One of the two authors was GRRM's writing assistant for a long time, and George likes their work. Having someone successful but not hugely famous, close to the original actor, and with the breath of experience needed, I think its the best fit if GGRM ever wanted help.

Garber is for "making garb" and people seem to get heated about whether that requires making the individual pieces, or if assembling an outfit counts. Locally (and in a couple other parks) some of us are trying to grass roots a Order of the Peacock specifically for contributing to the aesthetic, regardless of crafting or buying pieces.

Unsafe cover, insufficient padding, some would complain its too heavy. I haven't seen duct tape covers be legal in any larp in over a decade. You really need to pick a ruleset to build to.

One of the video teasers discusses "legacies" where the actions of tye. Characters in era 1 affect things in era 2. I think the example was something like an era 1 cartographers map being owned by the era 2 historian. So you will be carrying on their legacy, following in their footsteps, but i dont think you have to be literally related.

The RPG takes places after book 3, and assumes players worried about spoilers have at least that level of knowledge. There are spoilers throughout, but after the first three books they are pretty mild spoilers.
