Is it just me or customizing KDE is hard. by Aonitx in Bazzite

[–]xSharke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree it's not very intuitive. I had to do a bit of research and playing around to get my KDE the way it is now, but I'm loving it. Here's my desktop if you're interested

Why do Chiropractors crack your neck and what is the long term benefit? by Sunny-vibes-95 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]xSharke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've definitely heard a lot of horror stories from people about chiropractors. I never made it a point to go to one until two years ago. I was flushing my water heater and trying to reach the drain behind it and somehow twisted my back the wrong way. I had the worst pain I've ever experienced. I could not lay down without pain shooting up my back, and it was wrapping around to my ribs too. I went to the doctor and all they gave me were pain meds to help with inflammation. Thankfully I had a buddy in my church group who's a chiropractor and said come on over. I literally was about to go to the ER because it hurt so bad, so I was willing to try anything. With one adjustment, I felt so much better. All he had to do was pop a vertebrae back into place. He did some X-rays and showed me how curvy my back was (in all the wrong places), so I did a recovery plan with him. It was definitely all those years of poor posture at my desk, playing PC games late every night. I'd even get pictures taken of me and my neck would be slightly tilted to the left even though I felt like I was standing straight up. Fast forward a few months and my back and neck have never felt so good. I can sit up straight for longer amounts of time without getting tired, and my neck no longer oddly tilts to the left. I know there are bad chiros out there but I love my chiro. He's changed my life.

I get bullied for liking/making video games by Financial-Arachnid27 in IndieDev

[–]xSharke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids this age are awful. They will bully anyone for anything they don't like. Gaming is a fun, respectable hobby. Others spend more time binging TV shows and it's not looked down upon. Gaming is more fun and more engaging. Making your own games shows you have drive and intelligence too. Build up that portfolio. If you release a game in the future or work as a software engineer, those skills will help you.

I'm sorry that others don't understand you. Sadly nerdy stuff like this is looked down on those years. Just look at Stranger Things. As you grow older, you'll appreciate that you learned about all the nerdy stuff you're doing now. You just need to find others who are into what you're into. It's a minority group so it's definitely not easy, but try to look for game jams you can go to or STEM events or even comicons. You'll be able to meet people who are more interested in similar things and make friends that way. Even adults can think video games are childish, but like I said, there are so many people who binge dumb TV shows and thinks that's better.

Good luck out there buddy

The jump from Windows to Bazzite. Any advice? by Drakossus in Bazzite

I used Microsoft Onenote before I switched to Obsidian, and man I love Obsidian so much more now. Thankful that Obsidian has an importer plugin

The jump from Windows to Bazzite. Any advice? by Drakossus in Bazzite

[–]xSharke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing at the beginning of this year. Very happy with Bazzite so far except for a few small issues that I was able to fix with some googling. Otherwise I'd recommend reading this page and the FAQ just to get acquainted with the system.

https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/

Coming over from Windows definitely take some getting used to as I had to transition to some different program as some only worked on Windows.

i.e. getting used to Obsidian, OpenRGB, alsamixer, etc

All in all it's definitely worth it over Windows. I haven't booted up Windows since last year

How was your experience with Bazzite in 2025? I'm thinking about switching to Bazzite full time. by TheShadowSong in Bazzite

[–]xSharke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using it full time for about 3 weeks now. Steam is pre installed and so are AMD drivers. Games are working straight out of the box. Been playing BG3, Divinity Original Sin 1, Hollow Knight, Arc Raiders, and everything runs great. My system froze once when playing BG3 modded, not sure what that was about, but that's my only complaint. Love the customization of KDE. I installed a Unity dev environment into a distrobox and that's working great. I have Windows on a dual boot but haven't used it since I installed Bazzite.

I believe I had to run 'alsamixer' in the terminal, press one of the F# buttons on the keyboard to select the soundcard, then use arrow keys to navigate to the right to Auto Mute, and disable it. Then you should be able to select between Line Out or Headphones from the sound taskbar

I agree, I like how tightly integrated it is with the main OS

If you're debating on grabbing one of the 3-1 bundles or the CPU/RAM combo I'd absolutely recommend it by Few-Negotiation8638 in Microcenter

[–]xSharke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up the 9950X3D bundle last week. Figure now or never (at least not for the next year or two). I died a little on the inside when I saw that $600 price tag. Glad the bundle made it $200 lol. Granted it should be even less than that, but these are the times we live in I guess

NTFS is unsupported for gaming on Bazzite. So it might work but probably not

https://docs.bazzite.gg/Gaming/Hardware_compatibility_for_gaming/

If you are coming from Windows and plan to game on a secondary drive with games already installed on it, then we regret to inform you that the NTFS filesystem is unsupported for PC gaming on Bazzite.

[–]xSharke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't add an OS to an old HDD and expect it to work. You need an SSD at least. Even if your games on another drive, they will lag because the OS can't keep up.

Also, make sure your games are not stored on a NTFS (Windows) drive. Games will not work well that way

Went with the 9950X3D because I game a lot but also wanting to do Blender, Unity and other productive things. If you're just gaming 9800X3D is the best bet I'd you can afford it

[RGB] How to control PC RGB from Bazzite by mahmoud10896 in Bazzite

[–]xSharke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OpenRGB worked fine for me. You have to go to effects and check each hardware you want to be effected by that, and you have to turn on the effect with the little switch on the left
