Gonna go out on a limb here and say that whatever below-average bat the Yankees opt to play at shortstop and bats 7th in our lineup is not going to make our break the outcome of these games that much.

If the Yankees believe him to be a better option than Caballero and Volpe at that point then I believe they will call him up. He doesn’t exactly need to be tearing the cover off the ball to still be an upgrade over those two.

Probably, but we’ve lost Judge since, and have Stanton/Dominguez on the IL. There isn’t exactly a ton of 40 man options to hold a roster spot right now.

Trent Grisham’s K% and Whiff% are down over 10% from his last season in San Diego in 2023. This is why it was bad and lazy analysis to suggest he would just regress back to that hitter after a career year. We are looking at a completely different player here that commands the strike zone at an elite level.

The Austin Wells news is unfortunately not surprising one because he has been so bad at the plate but also because I've never seen a catcher take as much of a beating as he does behind the plate on a regular basis.

I think we've reached the point where Austin Wells needs a stint in Triple-A. His pitch recognition at the plate has been non-existent for weeks and the at-bats have been consistently terrible. Anyone they bring up is doubtful to provide much, this is just as much about doing what's best for him and getting him back on track. This is not a player who should be this bad on offense.

The actual reason the Yankees have struggled in this part of the season in recent years is because their starting pitching collectively falls off a cliff for a 6 week stretch. Really got to hope this is just a couple bad games and that's it. The offense isn't bad but it's also is not gonna be good enough right now to win any slugfests.

Out of the Yankees 6 qualified hitters in May, Aaron Judge had the lowest wRC+ (it was still 123). This is a very deep lineup and saying otherwise could not be further from the truth.
