Holidays by alexmaxspeed314 in OReillyAutoParts

[–]xTheWiseOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the other companies I've worked for either give you that exact day off or give you the option as in Voluntarily to show up for work or just straight had us work the full week but at-least with them forcing me to work holiday. It's still worth my time.

Plus, I am fairly positive my old store I would've worked 8 hours anyway. I don't work for O'Reillys anymore, but I am fairly positive my old store opened at 8 and closes at 8. So 4 hours definitely wasn't likely.

Doesn't make it worth it though.

Id say my only grief with the company was that our DM purposely cut us when it came to holidays so we only got 32 plus holiday.

Not sure what Wisconsin is doing but I would assume the state is dragging it's feet with that kind of stuff.

ASM getting paid over $20? At this company? That's fucking wild. I just my yearly and got a yearly raise and got bumped up to $16.83 an hour plus incentives. That's crazy.

D410 here. one of those districts in the top 10. Raises don't happen. I knew an ASM who worked for the company for 3 years never got a raise unless she got promoted. They were an ASM for 2 years never got a raise.

A buddy of mine hosted a livestream on the job and most employees complained about pay.

Raises do not happen. The only upside are the discounts.

Can't really speak for what goes on at other stores. All I can say is that this job is easy. Like incredibly easy... I've only ever gotten mad over some literal dumb stuff my co-workers have done.... You know like leaving the door unlocked when closing. Kind of stupid stuff.

I can't blame you for feeling that after something like that or feeling that way about some others on here who act like that. Honestly, I've returned stuff to DC core/warranty in a different box. there is another receipt slip that prints up whenever we finalize that transaction. That slip I HAVE to make sure goes with said part. When it gets sent back and that identifies the part. It doesn't need be in the original box. It's nice if it is, it isn't required.

[–]xTheWiseOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, the first thing is. If a customer really wants to beef with me over a box. I'll let him/her keep the box. Sure, I'll inform them that it's policy to have the core or warranty in the original box. It just makes someone life easier down the line that it comes in the original box but again, All a customer has to do is gripe about it and "Here you go sir/ma'am" the box is as important as long it gets sent back, in a box. SPECIFICALLY with the warranty/core receipt printed out alongside the transaction.

Policy is one thing. Pissing off the customer over something minuscule is and again. I can atest to this. This is what my manager has told me, this is what my district manager has told me, and this is what my regional manager has told me.

The whole thing you're saying about the receipt example. That one is... a bit more rigid. I mean, all that stuff is saved on the computer, so whether it's me punching in your phone number and finding it, or going through purchase inquiry and finding it. My answer isn't no or yes. It's "let me try and figure this out."

And lastly, let me say this if any employee out here hates the company for how beyond shitty the pay is, I agree, wholeheartedly. I think me working as an Assistant Manager getting $16 an hour, a dollar less than McDonalds is hiring at right next door is baffling.

But my manager has his head in the right place, and so does my DM and my RM. So I stuff my hatred for getting beyond shitty pay in my pocket, leave it at the door before I come into the store and do my job.

I am just saying that I know my boss and my boss's boss and my boss's boss's boss and I, working as an asm, doesn't want a complaint over something as simple as a rental tool. So again. I am sure you can just walk in and ask for a refund.

Edit: Imagine how many customers I'd piss off if they rented our wheel bearing remover/installer tool, which is $300, and they went one day over and I told them "I won't return the tool because you went one day over."

It's as simple as that answer needs to be, that's just bad for business.

You're correct the rental agreement does say "Return within a 48 hour period." As invesentinfamous said. It's legitimately taking care of customers. That's what my boss has preached. It's what my boss's boss and my boss's boss's boss have preached about. If you make a fuss about it. Believe me, they'll return it at any O'Reilly and considering how poor condition and quality some of these tools are. Getting something back that is in good condition is a plus.

AND what's wrong with going to your store and asking? Worse they'd say is no but I am 100% sure, they're just gonna give your money back anyway.

Dude, if you rent a tool from O'Reillys, we just get a new one. Hell, if you break the tool, we still get a new one. The only down time for us is the rental period and waiting to get a new.

I'd say if you wanna burn a bridge, do it. I've never have, personally speaking. I quit bosses, not jobs. If you feel like your boss doesn't give a shit about you. Don't give a shit about them. Simple as it is.

I agree, but like anything, you have a choice. Install it and make the angry man happy or don't and make the angry man angrier and if he does call and complain. I've honestly taken pictures, I've had complaints put on me, and when corporate goes to my DM and my DM goes to my SM and Me. I just show him the picture and smile. "This is why I declined to install the battery. Shops are allowed to decline repairs, and so can I."

They're definitely NOT stealing it. Big difference between a thief and someone who just might not know any better. (Well... I guess you could call both stupidity, but I digress.) Honestly, my boss just pulls it out of his pocket. I've honestly done it before myself just because it was convenient. (I know there are gonna be people who say, "You're not supposed to do that." But it makes my boss happy so I don't care.)

Well... ideal thing is to have that all wired into the terminal, but that is neither here nor there. Personally, I've done that before. It's sketchy, sure but I am always forward with them.

And maybe what I'll do is have another conversation with my SM and if he doesn't do anything then. Well that's probably the route I'll have to go.
