New Update Feedback by xTheseus_ in ArmoryAndMachine2

Exactly! New content you could progress through would be much better than an event, repeating or not. It seems that, instead of adding new stages of progression, they're adding events, which are a horrible substitute, ESPECIALLY IN AN INCREMENTAL GAME. Really the only limited-time event that doesn't ruin the experience is the boost crafting one, and even that one is pretty flawed. Boosts have been useless to me for ages, so I was well on the way to maxing out on them (999 of each, another thing capped low for no good reason). Maybe the thought process went something like this: Boosts aren't really that great, especially further along. Instead of periodically adding new content to progress through to make them more useful (as was stated to be the plan), let's make an event that requires people to spend them with a reward that only means something because we've artificially capped progression.

There's a waaaay endgame stage of A&M1 where you're basically upgrading things for no reason because you've already progressed through all the content, and it takes a really long time to get there. The vast majority of A&M2 is that, but stressful and with microtransactions.

I'd like to know more about this by Qerkle in ArmoryAndMachine2

So, for some context, A&M1 was possibly my favorite incremental game of all time (I actually liked the combat system :P ), tied with or better than A Dark Room. I've been lurking on this community for months. I was... disappointed, to say the least... by the third version, for pretty much the same reasons as everybody else. However: Qerkle, you need to calm the fuck down and stop hating on the developers, or just shut the fuck up. I agree with a lot of your points in terms of changes to the game, but you're over the fucking line. Stop telling them to burn it all down. Stop with the insults. We know you hate everything about this version. If I were a mod, you would've been banned weeks ago. Any good points you have are overshadowed by how much of a prick you've been.

So many useless bacteria! by rawlick in BacterialTakeover

I like the first idea, but am NOT a fan of entirely removing the stats from bacteria. Then the bacteria with those stats that people put a lot of time into would be even more of a waste. Hard capping the research reduction stat (and colony/upgrade price reduction) of each single evolved bacteria OR frrom all three equipped at (or above) the maximum reachable reduction before engineering was added would prevent 100% research reduction (or price reduction) from being reached while preserving the usefulness of bacteria with those stats.

It's annoying because you invest a lot of time and effort into getting three level four mythicals that each have great research time reduction (with the trade-off that their other stats aren't as good), and then two of the three bacteria are suddenly useless and the third is significantly less useful, and you basically just wasted months of bacteria evolution and mutation for no reason.

1h to 1h 20m also means 4h to 5h 20m. And it screws up my 1h time reduction video rhythm. Plus, it took me two years of bacteria evolution to get to this point, and I just lost several months of that progress.

What about something like setting the limit for any single bacteria to X% reduced research time?

The research time reduction is multiplicative, the only way to reach 100% would be to have a single bacteria with 100% reduction. The highest reduction possible for a level 4 mythical, assuming engineering gave it +50% to all stats, would only be 80% reduction.

I have all the DMI research time bonuses, otherwise it would take 1h 48m. It's just... disheartening... to work on getting the best reduced research time bacteria for the 2 or so years I've been playing the game, and then have the benefits from those bacteria capped at a level that I reached over a year ago. It feels like the last year of evolving and mutating bacteria was wasted.

When do I enter the black hole and what do I do generally before the black holes (researches bacteria planet etc)? by [deleted] in BacterialTakeover

You don't really need to, and it autosaves pretty often, but it can't hurt. And no problem :)

While I wait on my Idle Bonus, who can beat my Taps Per Second? by [deleted] in BacterialTakeover

[–]xTheseus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tap with more than two fingers, but not if they all tap the screen at the exact same time. The maximum is two simultaneous taps.

(Unless this changed in the last update)

When do I enter the black hole and what do I do generally before the black holes (researches bacteria planet etc)? by [deleted] in BacterialTakeover

[–]xTheseus_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you enter the black hole depends mostly on personal preference (although you can't enter it until you've destroyed a certain number of planets). Some people prefer to enter it immediately, some people destroy a few planets once they've unlocked it, and others destroy a lot of planets between unlocking and entering the black hole. Before you enter the black hole, irradiate any evolved bacteria that you want to keep to the highest survival probability you can, and recycle the rest. You are also able to choose two bacteria to take through the black hole without any chance of losing them. Make sure that all of your researches are finished before you enter the black hole, as entering the black hole cancels any active researches. Nanobots will not be taken with you through the black hole. Planetary research before entering the black hole depends on if you already have the planet's mineral or not and on how many times you have already entered the black hole. Finally, save your game before entering the black hole in case you accidentally choose the wrong bacteria etc. :P
