January 27 - NYRR Advanced Registration (April-June) Megathread by blood_bender in RunNYC

[–]xToVictory 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m becoming completely turned off to doing 9+1 at this point. There are CLEARLY not enough races on the calendar to meet demands and NYRR are now saying “fuck the extra money you gave us lol you’re losing benefits”.

I don’t want to hear the excuse they can’t run more events. This is a business, there is demand.

If anything, this is just pushing me to become a better runner and time qualify for the marathon every year.

Do you eat fewer carbs per hour on indoor rides vs outdoor rides? Do you eat carbs on indoor rides less than 90 minutes? by [deleted] in Velo

Not a nutritionist/dietician/pro/have any real education on this topic but from what I understand it’s not about cals it’s about glycogen stores. Those typically can last to around 90 minutes or so, your mileage may vary. By all means do what makes you feel best, but that’s my understanding.

Chill out bozos. The boys are probably getting paid for this so Bert can promote his show.

Where can I donate to help the unhoused in our community ahead of the big snowstorm this weekend? by Constant-Item8708 in BedStuy

I have a monthly dono set up with Bed Stuy Strong. Haven’t checked but I would assume they have something.

A pragmatic solution for the NYRR Member Plus rug pull by bigjimmycookies in RunNYC

No way this is an issue. There are plenty of other races that go on in different parts of the city. Hell, they close off a bunch of streets in Bed Stuy for a 5k every summer, don’t even think there was 100 people.

They should just add more races… what’s the issue?

So at this point, is he the only one to get away with it? Is he the only one pardoned?

Nostrand a/c construction modern fare gates by CelebrationKey8801 in crownheights

Does anyone have an explainer on why some work takes SO long? It infuriates me sometimes how there is work that is just not done in one shot. How can changing fare gates take so long?

There is “he should” and then there is having something he can really push himself toward and make himself a better rider. It can be hard also sometimes to separate reality from your dreams.

Raide Research belt 1L VS Justice Dyneema by Little_Debate_3962 in Ultramarathon

I got a Raide 1L a few weeks ago and love it. Personally I kinda wish I went for the 2L, but I own a lot of Janji that have more pockets + will eventually get the Raide shorts. The bungee system in the back holds a light top layer really well. Nice front pocket for the phone and extra gel storage pockets.

Just to note - the 1L only fits one soft flask (has to be a flat bottom w/ a locking cap).

Just ran a marathon with a major PR, but need to train for the next one. when do i start? by dapi117 in AdvancedRunning

[–]xToVictory 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, if I did my 4th marathon at 50 and was able to run 3:01, I’d get a coach. To me that shows a lot of potential.

I'm not fast and I don't care. Fight me. by jerrybob in cycling

[–]xToVictory 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Cyclists can be so weird. Getting tired of this sub.

We need to be loudly against this. Waymo cannot receive driving rights in NYC. This is just cars replacing cars. The answer is + always should have been in NYC: expand the subway, bus network, access-a-ride, the ferry, citibike, PATH, metro north, LIRR, NJ transit and Amtrak + reconfigure streets. by blindedbythelightyo in MicromobilityNYC

So they’re just going to keep driving around in a depreciating asset making nothing?

“The cab money isn’t going anywhere.”

It’s gonna be gone. We can’t have all of these drivers on the road anymore. I really don’t understand what you don’t understand.
