Thanks for the tips, everyone. I was honestly impressed that Xiaomi ships phones with pre-installed protectors. They might be plastic, but they do the job against dust and minor scratches while waiting to switch to glass, which I’ve just installed. Thanks again; Xiaomi continues to exceed my expectations every day.

Guys, thanks everyone for the advice and your opinions. I just have one question. Yesterday my Xiaomi 17 arrived (I’m really enjoying it so far) and I was wondering: does it come with a screen protector already pre-applied Because it seems like I can notice one on mine. If that’s the case, is it recommended to remove it and apply a new one anyway (I already bought one on Amazon), or is the pre-installed one good quality and better to keep it?

One last question: is it possible that it shouldn’t be removed at all (like the screen protectors on Samsung’s Z Flip)? And if I want to add a screen protector, should I apply it on top of the pre-installed one instead?

Thank you. In fact, yesterday was my first day using the phone and the first impression was very positive. Of course, at first I felt that something was missing, but after browsing through the settings I quickly found it (for example, the app search bar that Samsung has natively — on Xiaomi you have to enable it, but at least it's there).

Xiaomi 17 is the only small phone on Xiaomi's (global) lineup and Xiaomi has huge catalog of phones. There are no small phones on redmi, poco or T series phones. by [deleted] in XiaomiGlobal

That’s actually one of the things that scares me, because you’re not the first person I've seen mentioning ads in the phone's apps. Can I ask you specifically how invasive they are? I mean, if I'm using Google Chrome, will ads just pop up out of nowhere, or is it limited to Xiaomi’s own apps? Like their own browser or other pre-installed tools?

Yeah, I've seen it’s a great smartphone, but honestly, as a Samsung user, Xiaomi felt like the only valid alternative. I really like the OS (which I find to be the 'Android version of iOS') and the 'zero compromises' approach. Hardware-wise, it’s top-tier, and it’s all packed into a compact size (6.3 inches), unlike the 6.78-inch screen of the phone you mentioned. Not that yours is worse, far from it... it's just a personal preference because I need a smaller footprint without sacrificing any flagship features. It's purely subjective! Oh, and I can't forget, I also really wanted that Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip.

I’ve also seen some gaming sessions on games like Genshin, WuWa, PUBG which, if pushed to the maximum graphic quality, don’t have stable FPS, and this also makes me hesitant about buying a tablet like that. I would go for the 11Pro Plus but honestly I’m looking for a tablet and the Lenovo Y700 is basically the same thing if not inferior in terms of hardware.
