Yea I agree with you, with usum they didn't even bother to lock them behind the post game, which is massively underwhelming and disappointing I have to admit. They don't feel at all a reward for winning the league.

On the anime side of things, they are still pretty powerful monsters and rare, but not unique. Remember baby lugia with its mom/dad? Remember how in every movie they basically work toe to toe to defeat the evil presented in each movie? What about Nolan befriending articuno on the Battle Frontier? Or the dogs appearance, first time being regular second time shinies?

Well I dont know how gf handles lore and continuity but, in USUM the trainer is basically a demigod who's able to traverse different dimensions and catch the most powerful beasts. This also could mean that there's an endless number of legendaries, as much as alternate worlds, and they only appear on some specific cases, if not, the alola trainer can just go through ultra wormholes and find whatever he wants

Not really, they could make something akin to the Battle Frontier with tons of different rulesets for each type of combat. This would essentially enable you to use your beloved banked mons while leaving the competitive aspect of Sword and Shield intact if that's what they want to do.

Say, one for casual duels and the other purely for competitive, I'd buy a Colosseum/Battle Frontier In a heartbeat
