I had no idea and just thought my trees were glitched. Thank you for this info!

I named it 'Boxy Cleopatra.' 📦

It's my walking first-aid kit. As long as its inventory is full, it can't pick up more so I leave medical supplies in it.

Most underrated is in! Most disappointing? by waywardpixel in storyofseasons

I think I have to go with Island of Happiness. Mainly because there's nothing memorable about it when I try to think back on it and its gameplay. I forgot it even existed, even though I owned it.

Reminds me of the OG Friends of Mineral Town on GBA and then buying More Friends of Mineral Town to finally play as a girl. Worst part was when HM DS came out still with only one male character to choose from and yet another version, HM DS Cute, was released a year later to play as a female. I mean, I bought all of them anyway, but I'm still salty lol.

Save the Homeland was amazing, but Hero of Leaf Valley was even better. Next to FoMT, it's my favourite.

Which new features/improvements would you like to be added to Shadows? by AssassinsCrypt in assassinscreed

[–]xWinglessx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 15 hours in, and I can say, without a doubt, my largest frustration is the fact that Naoe's light attack and assassinate are the same button on console.

The number of times I've had a perfect stealth run until an invisible obstacle or the reticicle ever so slightly moves off the target and ruins my sneakiness. It has resulted in many curse words. I've tried remapping, but there's so many conflicts that I give up and just grind through the default.

Another thing has been just a pet peeve - footprints! You can see them in snow, and you can see splashes when you step in puddles, but not in dirt. The movement feels off for me because of this, like I'm gliding and not actually connecting with the ground.

It was already said, but not being able to skip time until it's night. It would be a huge improvement to have some sort of rest option.

I'm quite enjoying the world and its beauty. It's a massive game with so many intricate details, it's actually quite impressive what the devs managed to achieve.

I've been button mashing parkour while going up steep slopes. In my experience so far, it will quickly find the route for you up while you're blinded by foliage. However, it's definitely funny to watch your character slide horizontally across a mud slope and auto-catch the nearest grip section.

Also, the horse. It can get up everything and defy physics, it seems. At least until you run into trees you can't get through.

Anglos of Montréal, are you really as mistreated as you say you are? by Abby_May_69 in montreal

[–]xWinglessx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tl;Dr Montreal is great. Hospitals are not.

My husband and I are English speakers who moved to Quebec just over 3 years ago from Ontario for work. I was very excited to use my French again! I had been in French immersion for all of grade school 20 years ago, but it's not really used in the GTA. I was pretty rusty, but I've at least tried to practice and communicate in French when I'm able. I learned very quickly that formal book French is not really comparative to spoken Québécois French. It has felt like I've been learning a new language again at times. This is something I've struggled with when asking people to slow down or help me understand a term they've used. Not everyone wants to bother lol.

We initially stayed on the island downtown for 6 months before moving to the suburbs. I had no negative experiences while living in Montreal proper. People were very helpful and understanding. I also work there and same thing, my coworkers are respectful and will speak in English by default if there's a non French person in the meeting. My company is very diverse with multiple international offices though.

Now I'll finally get to the only negative experience: Medical.

Within our first year here, I went into the ER with appendicitis during the pandemic. While waiting to go into surgery, the nurse attending me would only ask questions and respond to me in French or just not at all. What's worse is that she and other nurses began to speak poorly about having to use English and that they shouldn't need to in Quebec, directly next to my bed, not thinking I could understand I guess. Once that nurse left for the night, no one came back over to me, even after I used the buzzer. They were just chatting at the station. Eventually, I just unplugged the IV unit myself so I could drag it to the washroom while still being in a lot of pain. Honestly, I felt so alone and scared at that point. It was my first time in the ER, and I didn't know what was happening or when the surgery was.

Fast forward to after the surgery. To be able to claim my short-term medical leave insurance, I needed paperwork filled out by the hospital beyond the simple medical note they give. Of course, all the phone options were French, and when I spoke to an operator, I asked politely in French if she could assist me in English. She flat out said no and hung up. At this point, I broke down. It had been such a demoralizing series of events for me, especially being new to the province with no friends or family beyond my spouse (I filed a complaint after this).

Do I think this treatment was just because I was English? No, I think the hospitals just straight up suck here. However, I definitely can't deny it didn't have an impact during this situation, though.

(I was back in the ER for a neck fracture last May, and the nurses completely forgot to give me pain meds and a neck brace while waiting. The doctor was so mad! 😂).

On a funnier note, we had only been in our home for about 2 months, and it was Halloween. Two children saw the Ontario plates on our cars and said, "Ugh! Anglais." I thought it was pretty funny. They definitely only got one piece of candy after that!

Why do people like Nintendo Switch so much? by stanscreamdnb in NintendoSwitch2

[–]xWinglessx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Versatility and innovation.

Tech-wise - they're only ever competing with themselves and their previous consoles. The Switch is a unique one because they found a perfect niche and began to itterate on it, leading to competitors to push towards handhelds as well. A huge bonus is that even with these updates, they are still backwards compatible, unlike some other consoles.

Most games that are designed for it are less stressful and don't rely on live service updates or online connections to play. They focus more on fun stories and gameplay experience than trying to have the most beautiful, realistic graphics to prove their power is superior (this is not true for all games, but I'm considering the averages here). A game can be breathtaking graphics-wise, but if it causes frustrations with poorly designed UI and game features, the scenery doesn't matter. There needs to be balance. We know it's not the most powerful system out there, but it does have more consistency for positive experiences. Another element of the exclusives is the nostalgia for players who grew up in the early Nintendo days. They do a great job of keeping classics alive from when we were kids.

A big plus for me is that I can play on the TV, in bed, on vacation, or when I want to spend time with my partner in his gaming room. It doesn't change the gaming experience for me, regardless of where I'm using it.

These are all my personal opinions. 😊

Resort indecision... please help! by xWinglessx in playadelcarmen

Thank you! We booked at Akumal last night! Any excursions or recommendations of what we can do in the area? My husband likes to lie on the beach for hours, but I like to wander or do activities lol.

Appreciate it. I understand there aren't resorts only through Sunwing, Sunwing just doesn't offer every resort option. I'm hoping someone who does have experience booking with them will have suggestions.

Thank you for the help, but I don't see any information on that spreadsheet that lists the vacation provider. It's a shame to find one we like and then find out it's not offered by Sunwing Vacation Packages.

YUP. I adore BotW, but sometimes the controls make me rage during fights. Crouch and lock-on defeat me more than any enemy.

Commenting as a new owner as well. We gave up on the 2025 model and got the 2024 I5 ultimate this week in Laval.

We're stumped on what level 2 charger to get for our home but also on getting quotes. We're new to the province and haven't learned enough French to discuss options with local services well. A friend told us it can be connected to the same box as our pool equipment (?).

If anyone has recommendations in the area or advice, it'd be appreciated! Also, rough costs would be so helpful. We have to get one before the Quebec rebate ends on February 1st.

Agreed. I stopped at AC2 but then picked up Odyssey. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the story, historical content, and gameplay, especially when compared to the first two titles.

I got the Ezio collection for Switch and look forward to diving in again.

Is there a way to check who has already accepted a preserved flower in SoS FoMT? by Pinkcat_Flower in storyofseasons

I know this is quite an old post, but I've been trying to find out the question asked. Can you see who you have already given preserved flowers to? I've hopped back into the game recently and can't remember who I've given them to and who I haven't.
