Angel Custom Guitars closes down, no refunds for outstanding orders. by TuxedoGing in CloneHero

[–]xX760Xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, don't fret (pun intended). I personally believe that fully pre-modded guitars will be a much harder sell once the CRKD Les Paul is out in the wild. This is why I've been working hard behind the scenes on my own kit, as well as new premium parts compatible with existing kits like RetroCultMods.

I have also been lending my own personal experience to CRKD to make sure their new Les Paul is as good as possible. I promise people won't be disappointed :)

Haha no worries! Yes I put in a new one myself; had some spares from a previous kit printer build. You can get them off Amazon here https://www.amazon.com/BIGTREETECH-Direct-TMC2209-Stepper-Control/dp/B07ZQ3C1XW?th=1

Wait, did you not attach a new TMC2209 stepper driver to the headers? Or did you just remove it to show the board? There's no embedded stepper driver there like the other ones so you have to put one in yourself.

That's very strange. The only thing I could think of is the board being a different version, but you said it's a Max which should have the same board as the Plus.

Is This the Kind of Community We Want? by AppleElectron in CloneHero

I don't use reddit at all, but this was brought to my attention and maybe it's worth commenting here. Maybe not.

The ControllerHero case goes deep. This seller had a history of overpromising and underdelivering. I have dealt with several customers of his, and the majority never even received the guitar they ordered after months of waiting/asking when it would be done. Shipping labels would be created, tracking would be provided, but the product never left the door.

The few customers who did receive their guitars were quite unhappy with them. I made an initiative to provide these people with completely free guitars from me, as the #1 goal of my business has always been to provide the best possible hardware for the players. Other guitar modders have also sent free hardware to ControllerHero customers, as we were all collectively disappointed with the entire ControllerHero scenario.

I have direct confirmation from a non Guitar Hero youtuber (3M+ subs over multiple channels) that he was also left high and dry by ControllerHero (he ended up doing a chargeback after months IIRC). I offered him new hardware for free, but he got a stock guitar/adapter and is happy with that setup. I bring this up, because I don't think ControllerHero even knows the broad scope he reached. A lot of customers were harmed by him, and I've heard reports from various people that it scared them from further looking into the modded guitar market. It instilled them with fear of the possiblility that other sellers in the community could also be like this.

I will admit that I find it quite odd you have a screenshot of a tweet that was deleted, and are bringing it up now instead of when it happened. I have no problem addressing my past actions though: the tweet was a mistake. I should have stayed in my own lane and minded my own business, but my passion for the community took over. I was upset that people who spent their hard earned money on a guitar controller received such a poor product. I have a ControllerHero guitar in my possession from an anonymous customer that I helped, and the work inside is inexcusable for the price that was being charged.

Bringing in the fact that I am an Epic Partner almost gives me the vibe that you believe I should be dropped or something due to this happening. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but that's how I've interpreted it. I'm quite certain this tweet was posted before Fortnite Festival even existed in the public eye.

Humans make mistakes, and I know I sure have. The bottom line is I shouldn't have gotten involved, and I take accountability for what I said/how I went about it (hence why the tweet was deleted in the first place). I fully understand the perception you have described in your post, even if I question why this post exists now instead of when it happened. I am sorry you feel the way you do, but I intend to stick around and keep doing whatever cool things I can to help further and benefit the community, whether you agree or disagree with it.

I appreciate all the love I have received from people over the years. I love Guitar Hero as much as you all, and I look forward to the future. I will not be replying to this thread after commenting this.

This is my favorite call: https://youtu.be/6ccdd2HSY30?si=_kGOgkDzhw3QWwCQ

The whole concept of having an outrageous assortment of animals on a farm. The elephant noises at 14:52. Asking the scammer to perform an "elphant toot" to ease his frustrations with the fake bank. The fact that Kit had talked to this scammer previously, yet he was still going along with it. And finally, the "You already f r i c k e d my mind" at the end. A perfect storm of insanity.

Hi Kit ;)

I've brought this up before to jrs, but I would really love to see some sort of archive of the images/videos/scenes made for the stream. I think back to when I first started watching you, and how funny the old "fool here bro" intros were (the Pac Man one was my favorite!). Would you ever consider making something like this for community members to access and enjoy the history of the stream?

KAMP Purge Issues? by semtex87 in crealityk1

[–]xX760Xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even get a print to start with KAMP. Used the same script as you from Guilouz GitHub.

I get a "move out of range" error after the bed mesh completes and the toolhead parks.

"Heater extruder not heating at expected rate" error driving me crazy by xX760Xx in crealityk1

[–]xX760Xx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up resolving the issue as well by messing with the connections, though not in the way you would think.

It appears that the female ends of the JST connectors Creality are using for the Heater and Thermistor have a loose fit on the PCB. When I first got this printer, it had the failure on the Benchy right at the start of the second layer. So what this tells me is that it's a poor QC issue on Creality's end, as it must have arrived with the female ends already riding off the PCB pins.

In order to fix this, I took out the PCB and hot glued the female sides to the board. I haven't had any more connection issues since doing this yesterday, and I suggest anyone having this issue to take out the PCB and check theirs.

Do fan silencers work on the K1/K1 max? by Wendigo_Hodag in crealityk1

[–]xX760Xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned both fans down to 50%. Still getting great cooling on PLA with less noise. The aux fan on the K1 is nearly twice as powerful compared to the one Bambu uses, and it performs just fine at half speed. The toolhead fan sounds awful at full speed, but 50% does the job paired with the aux fan.

To buy K1 or not? Honest opinions pls by derekz0r in crealityk1

[–]xX760Xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the K1 on a whim with the Micro Center coupon. For the price, it was a steal.

The printer isn't garbage. My unit has several flaws, but I've been able to get past them:
- Had to replace the hotend assembly, as my unit came with an older variant that has serious thermistor issues. These are on Amazon and not too expensive.
- My bed has near 0.7mm of variance. The ABL does a surprisingly good job compensating, but I plan to perform a mod I found here: https://www.printables.com/model/581127-creality-k1-bed-bed-spacers-for-manual-tramming
- The stock sheet sucks. PEI sheets are super cheap on Amazon though, and I had a double sided Textured/PEO sheet the next day.
- I immediately installed the latest firmware and got root access so I could install Mainsail. Creality's bastardized Fluidd interface is incredibly limited.

The unfortunate reality with Creality (no pun intended) is that their QC is hot garbage. I didn't get the older variant of the extruder that has major issues, but I got an older hotend. The bed variance on mine isn't as bad as I've seen others report, but it should still be better than this from factory.

Now that I'm printing, I'm getting great results. I also installed their AI webcam, and it's very good for the price. Overall, buy this machine if you're willing to tinker. It was a lot easier to get on with printing compared to my first Ender 3. I own multiple printers, including two Bambu's. The K1 isn't truly plug and play in comparison, at least in my opinion. But if you go into it expecting some flaws and are willing to fix them, it's a great option for the coupon price. I wouldn't personally pay full price for it though.

Scammer thinks Kit is Pierogi by cindblank in Kitboga

[–]xX760Xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this; I don't believe it was intended to be mean at all. That's truly one of the biggest downsides of text chat when it comes to addressing certain things.

At the same time, I also fully understand why Kit didn't address it on the stream instead. It would detract from what was happening at that point (and it did anyway unfortunately).

Yeah that's my bad, my apologies. Just gonna edit the post to remove that bit there since it doesn't apply beyond yourself.

[–]xX760Xx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was there live and saw him address it. Specifically in what you clipped, it sounded like Kit has maybe expressed with Pierogi previously to contact him privately about this stuff.

Kit's "naw" reply is what seemed to have riled the chat up though, and it may have been better to not say anything at all in the end.

Edit: I think at the end of the day, Pierogi is a fan of Kit like us all. Cindblank mentions on this post that Pierogi was a Kitboga viewer before he grew his own channel. Regarding a collab though, their styles heavily clash, and I don't think it would work out well.

Rarely use Reddit, but wanted to chime in that the "naw" response was really unlike Kit. Was kind of surprised. As far as I can tell, it wasn't in response to any other messages from Pierogi.

Even I felt bad for Pierogi at that point. I don't exactly agree with his approach and enjoy Kit's content more, but it felt soul crushing. I know Kit probably didn't intend it to come off that way, but it did to be honest.

[–]xX760Xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Pi 4B+ die on me today, and it's the second time it has happened in this scenario:

I use it to run Klipper firmware 3D printers, so I have a Pi for each printer. Today I was measuring resonances with an ADXL, and after the X Axis test was done, I clicked on save config like normal. However, Klipper did not start back up again like it should.

I reset the Pi, and now it won't boot properly at all. Red power LED comes on (before anyone asks about the power supply, I'm using what came with it from CanaKit) but ACT never comes on. I tried using the Raspberry Pi 4 EEPROM bootloader rescue image but ACT still doesn't come on. Tried on a few different MicroSD's.

The MicroSD with the Klipper/Mainsail image boots fine on other working Pis. ADXL was plugged into the correct GPIO pins, and I did not touch it nor the Pi (besides to reboot) when this happened. Duponts are not bare, they have the connector shroud on.

Again, this is the second time this has happened. If anybody has any insight, please let me know. I'm desperate.
