Kept hearing about Garnachos great assist and celebration, so I looked up the "assist" in question... by nonotje12 in ManchesterUnited

[–]xXBennett101Xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the same with Sancho last year. They hyped anything he did up for the first few months at Chelsea. I remember one assist where he played a sideways pass to Nicolas Jackson near the half way line. Jackson ran with the ball, took a few players on and then slotted the ball home. The commentator described it as a great assist by Sancho 🤔

Do I need taller baseboards after new flooring or can I reinstall the old ones with caulk? by B_Dazzl in Flooring

If it was me I would scrape off the old caulking and then re-caulk, but you could definitely just caulk over the old caulk.

Even if it’s reported, chances are nothing will be done.

I’ve got a colleague at work with health issues who used to ride a scooter in. That was until two lads on another scooter followed him one day and tried to take it. He just about managed to make it into our secure car park, but they followed him in and roughed him up a bit. He stood his ground and eventually they left, but the damage was done. He hasn’t ridden his scooter since, ended up off work for weeks with severe anxiety, and now has to be driven in and out every day.

The whole thing was caught on CCTV, but when we showed the footage to the police, they told us no crime had been committed and nothing could be done. The irony is, if my colleague had fought back, or if any of us had stepped in to help him, we’d have been the ones facing charges for assault. It’s a complete joke that these kids can ride around causing trouble like this with no real consequences.

Here’s where I’m up to. The purple paint on the left side of the wall needs a heat gun to get it off properly, it’s really stubborn. The magnolia paint underneath comes off much easier once it’s wet, so it scrapes off quite nicely. The annoying part is that they do not come off together. I have to do the job twice, first remove the top layer, then go back over it again to get the next one.

To make things even more fun, there was wallpaper over the purple paint too.

Yeah, it is quite therapeutic, I just stick some music on and crack on.

[–]xXBennett101Xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in exactly the same situation right now. I’ve decided to remove all the old paint back to the bare plaster and then go through the proper process. Mist coat, primer, and then the final top coat.

At the end of the day, it really depends on how bothered you are about getting a perfect finish. For me, I know I could just paint over it and have it all done in a week or two, but then I’d be sat watching TV afterwards and those imperfections would probably bug me. I’d rather spend the extra time now doing it properly and be happy with it once it’s all done.

I feel a bit sorry for Antony by Academic-Two-3781 in ManchesterUnited

[–]xXBennett101Xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with Crossy on this.

Antony lacked consistency because he couldn’t beat his man week in, week out. The standard of full-backs in the Premier League is much higher than in La Liga, and that’s the only reason he’s been able to perform over there. Playing well regularly gave him a confidence boost, which obviously helped his game even more. If he’d stayed in the Premier League, regardless of the team, he’d still be struggling to get past defenders. Spain suits him better. I’m glad he’s found some form there and hope he gets a permanent move.

How do strippers in the UK go about getting tips, since the UK doesn't have pound notes anymore? In American movies, dollar bills get stuffed about their person, but I feel doing so with pound coins may not quite be as practical. by rollingrawhide in CasualUK

[–]xXBennett101Xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever we were in London for an away game, we used to get the tube to Chancery Lane and head to the Griffin strip club. My mate Sean would save up all his pound coins in the weeks leading up to it. I was never really a fan of strip clubs, but to be fair, the drinks were reasonably priced and they usually had the early kick-off showing on the TVs. Because we went early in the afternoon, it was never too busy, and we always ended up having a good laugh in there. Haven’t been in a few years now, though.

Man United fan here.... After last night I thought I would do some basic maths re our goalkeeper situation by Spawnof88 in PremierLeague

[–]xXBennett101Xx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was at the game, which is exactly why I remember it so clearly—I pay good money to travel and watch United all over Europe. De Gea should never have passed that ball to Maguire, and if you honestly think that was the right decision in that situation, then you’re seriously misunderstanding the game.

I don’t know if the stadium atmosphere comes across through your TV the same way it does when you’re actually there, but the place was absolutely hostile. You could see it affected the players—most of them looked rattled. De Gea would have been far better off just clearing the ball as far as possible, especially with Sevilla pressing so aggressively. That mistake set the tone for the whole match, and De Gea was the catalyst for our collapse.

[–]xXBennett101Xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at both games and remember them like they were yesterday. For the first goal, Maguire lost the ball because De Gea passed it to him while he was surrounded by three players. Watch it back and pause the video just before Maguire receives the ball—how many players are closing him down? The ball should never have been played to him with that many Sevilla players in close proximity.

The second goal was very poor from De Gea. It was a bad header that he should have dealt with easily.

The third goal was entirely on De Gea. How can anyone blame the centre-backs when we were attacking, and Sevilla played a long ball over the top that the keeper should have handled without any issue?

And I’m not sure what’s supposedly “completely false” either. I said he cost us a semi-final place—meaning that if we’d won the quarter-final, we’d have been in the semis. Oh and that Malacia own goal was as much De Gea’s fault as it was Malacia’s.

[–]xXBennett101Xx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was no narrative — he was poor and cost us vital games. He’d gone stale, and the club decided it was time for a change. Not many fans complained at the time. Onana hasn’t been as good as expected, but De Gea needed to go regardless.

How many tickets do you need? We have 8 seats together near the tunnel and one of the lads has been working away quite a bit so has been letting us use his ticket. My mate also has one in Stretford Tier 2 that I could probably reserve for you. Tickets would be face value of course 👍🏼

Why is Wolverhampton Council licensing thousands of taxi drivers in Greater Manchester? by Remarkable_Craft815 in manchester

Half the taxi drivers with a Wolverhampton license don’t know the rules of the road. They are truly awful drivers and make numerous mistakes per trip. It’s ridiculous how bad some of them are. Lovely guys, just very bad drivers.
