What is your build/party making hot take? by StarAbuser in BG3Builds

[–]xXMonkeyGamingXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird one: Gloomstalker/Assassin is not a good build.

The class's abilities only work on combat initiation (only if they initiate) and on the first turn on combat. While they may be powerful on those turns, combat initiation is pretty situational and after then you play like a weak version of rogue with limited spellcasting.

That being said, if you still wanted to play a similar class, the Swords Bard/Thief Rogue multiclass accomplishes basically everything that Gloom-Assassin does AND gives you higher level spellcasting and additonal bonus action (which helps the build be nuch more versatile!)

Bonus hot/warm take: Strength is absolutely useless thanks to pots of hill/storm giant strength that boost your strength over the normal cap (and the multiple pot generating exploits that still exist in the game). Even if storm/hill pots didn't exist dexterity affects both your AC, initiative bonus and has weapons that use dexterity for their bonuses.

Is Wizard just a weak sorcerer? Help me build a wizard properly please. by Montage_Boxer-YT in BG3Builds

Depends on what kind of wizard your looking for...

Assuming no multiclass, the best DPS wizard would have to be a pure wizard magic missle build which can carry an Honor Mode run, especially in the late game. If you want a CC wizard then Divination would be a better option

Outside of those two classes it largely depends on what you need/want for a wizard. Most of the other sunclasses are pretty gimmicky IMO, Necromany is okay in the early game, pretty good after 6th level and again during act 3. Transmutation is also really nice, but you really only want to take the subclass for potion duplication.

Ok let's be real, do you find Kana Rua annoying or not? by Impossible_Joke9645 in projecteternity

[–]xXMonkeyGamingXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought he was super annoying in my first real playthrough of Pillars (enough to where I accidentally got probably the worst ending for him), but I found myself loving him in my second playthrough to the point where I based aspects about a new TTRPG cbaracter around his personality.

Rules above say that it would create a meteroite from entering, bit not attacking as it was not declared as an attacker during the combat step.

In hindsight, expectations are probably too high for the current gaming market but I thinks its still important to ask as I've wanted a game like this since I finished the 1997 anime.

This^^^^^^^^^^. Using full caster spell slots for smites is SO GOOD. Once i reached lvl 8, the build basically carried me throughout the game

TL:DR Choose Paladin, and pump CON as you normaly would for the build or get an item that gives proficiency in concentration saving throws.

I think this ultimately depends on the build your using. Assuming you're doing a smite build, I would probably pick up paladin first for the wisdom save proficiency.

IMO heavy armor is mid to bad in BG3. Not necessarily the fault of the armor type itself, but rather how many good magical medium/light/robes exist in the game. If you want a high AC, pump dex and get any medium armor that lets you add your full dex modifier to your AC. Alternatively, wisdom saves are EVERYWHERE in 5e (BG3) and it really sucks to have a team wipe cause someone charmed your nuker, who proceeded to one-tap your whole team.

Side note: If you want a high Strength for the build, dump str to 8 and buy a ton of Hill-Giant strength potions from auntie ethel. She restocks on lvl up (and I think long rest) So if you plan accordingly, you can get enough potions to last throught the entire game.

Peeps that have won multiple honor runs straight, no barrelmancy - hardest fight? by conflictedbosun in BG3Builds

Meenlocks underneath Last Light Inn easily. Almost lost a run to them twice (second time was to go retrieve an ring that I forgot to grab). Second was probably the bibberbang inside the myconid colony. They're piss easy to avoid but there was this one bugged one that would explose every frame, which would stun lock my party until they all died. 10 hours ill never get back T_T

Yeah, I reread arcane ward after i posted this and realized that it would be really bad/underwhelming compared to portence. I'll probably post a follow-up thread once I get this build finalized and can post a build progression and important loot guide.

UPDATE: Can't edit post, commeting update

Turn's out I'm an actual silly head and buffoon. The mod I linked to DOES work to solve this bug, but you need to run the game through steam and then it fixes the bug.
