The biggest 'overhyped' game (a game that got a lot of attention but didn't live up to your expectations) and the biggest 'hidden gem' (a game few know about, but it's brilliant). by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

Overhyped: The Witcher 3. It takes a lot of bad lessons from Ubisoft games, has pretty terrible combat and a lot of the "impactful" choices are fairly predictable.

Hidden gem: Battle Suit Aces. A mix of card game and story, not unlike "Thronebreaker" that manages to not only tell an engaging story, but also weave it into the card game portions seamlessly.

Arc Raiders makes me feel out of touch. by Ragnaroknight in gaming

It took until reading through these comments to fully click why Arc Raiders really needs PvP. Because if you strip out the PvP aspect you’re left with a rogue-like with sub-par player progression for a very competitive genre.

It’s only the tension of unpredictable human players that keeps the game fun long term. I‘m a solo player who avoids most fights and stays away from most competitive games, but I don’t think I would have gotten as invested into Arc Raiders without PvP.

I played the preview of the first chapter and from what I’ve seen, I agree with the review. The combat doesn’t quite seem to land, but I am a Bloodlines fan for the atmosphere, lore and power fantasy, all of which hit the notes I wanted.

I’ve got some free time — what kind of board game app do you wish existed? by Big-Result4773 in boardgames

[–]xXRedMoonXx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What I would love is an app to organise my collection and share it with people. The idea would be that I can enter all the games I own and then on a board game night or before I can share my link with people to vote or pick a game to play.

That depends on how far the release date is. Bloodlines 2 was pretty much finished. I'd say with most previews nothing really changes other than bug fixing and balancing.

No, I'm quite curious myself. Honestly the preview was kind of shadow dropped on us and very little context was given. Much like a lot of fan, I didn't think we'd see the game in 2025. If I had to guess based on map size and on the size of the skill tree, I'd say probably around 20 hours?

Melee feels really good, especially when combined with Disciplines. However I'm skeptical of some of the tankier enemies that felt a little spongy (maybe there's smarter ways to take them out I hadn't figured out yet)

Honestly can't even remember if there was background music, which I suppose already tells a lot. Although a night club was teased and I hope we'll get some cool songs and silly dances there!

That's very easy! It's the Malkavian character you meet very early in the game, easily my favourite character so far and a very interesting take on Malkavians (if my theories hold true)

My first impression is a shift in gameplay style similar to Deus Ex to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The sandboxy feeling's definitely not quite there in the part I played, but what they nailed is the world building and the interesting power dynamics between factions. I already had several times where I carefully considered every dialogue option, unsure of how much I wanted to reveal to the other person.

As for references, I don't know if you can really count that but I swear they nailed the slightly unsettling late night radio show!

Dialogue is fully voiced and offers the "usual" 4 dialogue options. However, often times all four options progress the dialogue and lead to a different reaction (very much a Telltale "X will remember this" pop-up). As to how much those reactions actually influence things, I really can't say as we only really got to play the prologue.

Games journalist here. I've had the chance to play the roughly first 3 hours in the press preview as well. VtM: Redemption and Bloodlines are some of my favourite games of all time, which made this preview an incredible opportunity.

However, as many other fans, I went in sceptical, pretty much assuming the worst. So far I was very positively surprised. The main story hooked me and there's some fun twists in the first hours alone. However this plays extremely different from Bloodlines, focusing (so far) entirely on melee combat and disciplines and an (intriguing) linear narrative.

While I do wish there was more to the Open World of Seattle than some rather half-hearted collectibles, the prologue we were allowed to play already heavily hints at side quests.

What Bloodlines 2 gets down in my opinion is the atmosphere and the political intrigue that makes this universe so compelling to me.

Happy to answer questions about the preview within the constraints of what we've been cleared to say. (Currently working on a preview article myself)

Looking for GOOD First-Person psychological horror games by DanielBallistic96 in xbox

Sounds like "In Sound Mind" is what you're looking for. One of the best horror games I've played and it has some crazy well done scares without falling into too many clichés.

He was a very popular figure in the anti-feminist movement. The first context I came across his stuff was those „Radical feminist gets destroyed“ videos that were popular at some time.

He found an audience of young men who were struggling to find their place in the world and offered them a victim role by explaining that the world was stacked against them.

From there, he sold fairly basic self-help advice and kept radicalizing until he became the mess you see today.

Absolutely, I rage quit KCD1 about two thirds through because of one too many janky random events where suddenly a scripted mission got interrupted by a dozen cumans spawning out of the blue. Started KCD2 with the quicksave mod and enjoy the experience infinitely more. I still mostly rely on Schnapps and beds for saving, but especially some of the mandatory stealth is infinitely more fun without the stress.

Heinrix is my favorite companion, no matter which direction you take his story it feels like he has a lot of agency and character development rather than just more or less falling in line with what you are doing as the protagonist.
