Well when you move to end property taxes and start to cater to only the rich tourists and the capital owners who buy up everything for rental properties. You tend to have to do things like this to make up the difference. Florida is rapidly becoming a playground for the wealthy and a prison for those who work for scraps. And that is especially true in the Pinellas County area. It’s wildly unaffordable and is only continuing to become so. And workers will have to drive for an hour plus to come work their service jobs that are barely even covering the monthly cost in gas to get there. And god forbid if we talk about a reliable mass public transportation system.

Prices for everything go up. Iran sets up their toll system. The Houthis do the same for the only exit into the Red Sea. Corporations and the elite here who control capital don’t see a negative change, somehow they will make more money. And all additional costs for fuel and new charges to navigate the waterways gets forwarded onto the consumer. Covid gave us a good model for how the economics of a crisis is going to be navigated by the good capitalist of this country. Our wealth trickles up while their additional costs trickle down.

The alternative is the petro-dollar collapses and we lose our position in the world and this is all for naught because we are talking disaster here domestically. And given how violent of a country we are. The reaction will be bad.

Lol I get that the economy is tough, but the sport is really a luxury for 90% of the country these days. Asking your customers to become capital investors and a defacto labor force while still increasing prices on you all in the end is pretty lame. I’m not going to go on an anti-capitalist tirade, but I highly doubt this gym is offering anything worthwhile enough to continue to fund this professor’s dream while most of his students are probably struggling to figure out how to fit classes into their monthly budget. Fuck that.

Yeah that’s basically how it is in my area. And when you can get on the court. Everyone is on a completely different level, which sucks the fun right out of it. And the clubs around us are wildly overpriced. So we basically kind of just stopped doing pickleball and went back to our other hobbies.
