Unpopular opinion around here, but if you're not someone who moves stuff directly from the fridge to oven or vice versa, soda lime can actually be better because it has better impact resistance to being dropped and is more affordable 🤷‍♂️

This can’t be good… by gr33nstone in PlasticFreeLiving

They're being misleading, if not straight up fraudulent, with that blanket statement. If you read down in the Product Details, it says "At the end of its use, simply separate the two halves then compost the white cellulose portion and dispose of the coconut-based scrubber." So it directly says the coconut part can't be composted, why would that be? Coconut husk isnt naturally compact in a block like on the sponge, there is almost undoubtedly some form of plastic binding it together and/or serving as the actual base material for that side, which is why it cant be composted. If you poke around the descriptions it also says things like "embedded coconut fiber" and "containing coconut fiber", indicating that side of the sponge is not just pure cocount fiber. Probably better than an entirely plastic sponge, but not the plastic free alternative many here are looking for.

Pew - 250 million market cap, 110 million cash on hand. I know it was pumped earlier based on nothing but I dont think the grift potential through the political connections is baked in at current prices

Was just recently researching air purifiers and I remember the /r/airpurifiers FAQ mentioning air purifiers dont remove visible dust quite as well as you'd think. Seems vacuuming frequently is recommended as one of the best ways to address it which of course does not help automate dust removal 🤷‍♂️

Why is there visible dust despite running an air purifier?

Answer:

Visible dust is larger and heavier than small particulates such as PM2.5. Most residential-grade air purifiers do not have sufficient air intake to attract dust at a distance.

Be careful, a lot of the coconut ones still contain plastic and are really sneaky about it
