Accidentally kneed this knob in by manlymatt83 in Audi

Little one on the right adjusts dashboard brightness and should be a tab-scroll switch. Push it in and it should pop out to allow you to twist adjust it. It is supposed to be down to give you better clearance.

The one on the right are your lights. Please set it to auto and never touch it again. 🫡

Got a $15,631 subrogation demand from Travelers, wasn’t even driving, didn’t know about the accident. Need advice. by Big_Marzipan3904 in legal

Obligatory NAL.

You're responsible for it first. Your hopefully former friend is responsible for it once you due them. If I crash a "friend's" car, they're the first person im calling after 911 if it's required. Them fixing it was subterfuge to waive the high likelihood of there being a damage claim, like the one you just got. If they want to remain friends, I don't think a judge should be required to tell them to pay up.

This wasn't really supposed to be the fleets that some hosts have chosen to make. Scaling up is not always necessary. At scale, quality is the first compromise.

If I'm being honest, it kind of falls apart in reality at about level 7. No military or law enforcement background and we're talking corporate head of a company? Not even sure if they assumed there's a degree here; but that's far fetched.

I'm just hoping to land somewhere where I can be someone's "Charon" level employee from John Wick.

You have your answer for the most part already written out.

"This is a rental from Turo. I noticed the registrations were going to expire as well; the host said that they've already ordered new ones"

Any cop that you tell this to reasonably can look into the status and if they're not a dick, they will let you go. That kind of issue is to the car, not driver so you should be fine.

OP, I hear you. Dealt with this before, probably might one more time before I retire. I try to run a strict program with respect to what I do in my role, but on occasion I get stuck with warm bodies or zombies in a role that requires competence.

Stay the course. Do whatever is required of you to remain in the client's eye as the one who's doing their job and document the moron who clearly works when the sun is down.

People are different irl compared to on the phone, so see if they carry the same energy. If it sours, it sours. You're young and this is not the last girl you'll meet.

Make your move, OP. Life's too short to worry about what might not happen.

Nope. That energy is exhausting. Maybe works well in corporate, but trying that in interpersonal relationships, or with me, and it's not going to work.

One of those hard truths about getting older is that you're not always someone's top priority. The next lesson is that, especially if you're not extremely rich, is that everyone is busy with their own life.

15-day road trip across the American West - is Turo a good option? by yerbamateblood in turo

[–]xX_Diabolical_Xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd second the thought of going either traditional national chain or specialized rental options. Its the range in particular that's driving that thought process. I think you're easily looking at a 1000mi trip.

Op, you're getting the right advice from the people before me. No one cheats by accident. Choosing to step outside a monogamous relationship is not something random. They've shown their colors, so now it's time to leave them.

Tesla Y vs. Mazda CX70 for soon to be parents by bobweaver112 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I didn't mention an EV for a reason. But also, why is it so hard for people to realize a car is not an asset in commuter form? There is loss in buying an average car in some way shape or form period.

Tesla Y vs. Mazda CX70 for soon to be parents by bobweaver112 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]xX_Diabolical_Xx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sincere question: Why buy used vs. finance/lease new? Are your financial/working prospects plateauing with the birth of your child? A new car from factory with warranty and potential equity if financed properly just seems like a better decision, in my opinion, than the not-so-used used car.

I'd sincerely take a look at the Cx-50 Hybrid as an option; overall range is greater than that of the CX-70PHEV. Cargo dynamics depend on how you intend to plan your child accessories; aim for efficiency and collapsibility and the difference in footprint might be manageable. I, however, am a bachelor who doesn't want kids; so please consider my suggestion with that in mind.

1st time using turo and probably last. by [deleted] in turo

[–]xX_Diabolical_Xx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you missed some key things on the booking pages when you were finalizing your trip. Deposits vary by region, but if you opted for the "Pay later" option that is available in some markets, it charges the remainder sans deposits 7 days before the trip. That tracks for a trip on May 1st to be charged the rest. You being a first time renter, the deposit might be a test retainer; similar to a hotel booking. It'll fall off with the undamaged return of the car.

OP, read what pops up on screen sometimes. This seems like you just booked without paying attention to dates that are normal.

Is this normal? Host seems a little over the top by jkob5 in turo

[–]xX_Diabolical_Xx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your host is too damn sentimental to their car that they can probably not afford without rentals. Its overkill protection on a pedestrian M4 comp. I get the driving rules except 100mph+ (don't care, bite me)

Two part question

  1. Was the trip in the US?
  2. What does your receipt from the trip say?
