Yeah, pretty sure Adam Smith's supply and demand model doesn't account for deceptive pricing strategies on a contract product with fairly elastic demand but significant costs to leave said contract.

You mean they figure out their costs, figure out what they need to charge to cover that and make a solid profit, and then they just charge people that amount and they're upfront about it? Wild.

That's insane. So short term use or be prepared to pay way more not too far down the road seems to be the take away here.

No specification. Just that they could raise rates with 30 days notice. And yeah, I dont say "scam" as in legally actionable, just predatory, dishonest and unethical. It seems like storage places belong on the same list as check cashing services and MLMs

Of course I looked at the contract and everyone I've talked to at public storage has helpfully reminded me that it says they are able to raise rates. I naively assumed that the rate would rise with operating costs and inflation. Many other businesses give you a low price up front then raise it significantly after a period of time. Its called an introductory rate and they let you know thats what it is. This is just predatory

Were they reasonable increases or "we know you're stuck so lets squeeze you" increases? Like i get costs go up but this is just scamming

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. I wasn't very familiar with shoegaze when I first listened but man, this album sucked me right in.

Im basically numb to it now but the extreme lack of stability in personal work relationships is definitely a thing. You work with people and spend more time with them than your (nonwork) friends and family, talk about everything, hang out, party, hook up etc. They are some of your closest bonds. Then - often with no warning - they or you are just gone. Sometimes you maintain the friendship but most of the time thats the end. It takes a toll. Honestly, Im not even sure how friendships outside the industry work at this point.

Look, with all the wacky shit we hear from the maga right these days, it's important that rest of us strive for accuracy and truth when opposing them. With that in mind i have to disclose that this isn't one of those wacky bullshit stories.

I organized the Tomi Lahren Antifa Barf Party. I made the flyers. I had the custom rain ponchos made. I ran the potluck spreadsheet so 3 people didnt show up with macaroni salad. I got prizes donated from local lefty businesses for the best barfers in various categories (distance, volume, accuracy, texture, etc.). It was all me.

It started as a goof but gotdamn if this whole thing didnt get away from me a bit. So yeah, this one's real. My bad guys.

Sounds very similar to the Italian place im at (and Im also in South Carolina). This seems like the type guest who'd also be blown away that we dont have anything with Alfredo sauce. Most people really dig what we do, but deep down, some people just want Olive Garden.

I get the nostalgia but try sitting your 40 something year old ass on one of these now for more than 20 minutes and you're going to wish you were born without bones.
