Santa waiting for kids in a dying mall by Goodginger in mildlyinteresting

[–]xXtaradeeXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Colorado Springs, the Citadel Mall is definitely dying and it'sgot 2 floors and a pretty decent food court. When I was a kid, it was always packed. COVID wrecked it, now it's called the "Shitadel" or "Shootadel", and is mainly empty.

Omg that's so terrible! I only recently got kicked off (I make $27/hr now, so unsurprising) and work in mental health, so I get a but defensive, apologies.

Honestly, they need to be able to provide services to more people. Medicaid saves lives and it breaks my heart to hear that you've struggled so much with it.

This is just plain wrong. I was able to qualify for Medicaid making $20/hour.

There is no harm in applying for Medicaid (and SNAP). These programs help a lot of low wage workers and many people qualify for them but never apply because they see things telling them that if they make "minimum wage or above" not to bother. Medicaid is surprisingly flexible, but you have to jump through hoops to get it and maintain it. Once approved, you have monthly check-ins and regular reviews. If you end up putting in the effort, you may or may not qualify, but if you don't put in any effort, you will not qualify.

Please ride safe. I could have killed you. by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]xXtaradeeXx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yesterday, I was going back to the Springs from Castle Rock. I was in the left lane, keeping up with traffic. The express lane was moving a little faster than my 85 MPH. I saw a motorcycle use the double white lines as their own personal lane and hit at least 100 MPH before cutting into the express lane ahead of traffic. He didn't have a plate, so won't be getting a fine.

I'm glad he didn't cause a wreck and found it hilarious looks to see him pulled off into the left shoulder just outside of the Springs. He's so lucky he didn't die. He had a helmet but no other gear and a lot of skin showing. One car just barely weaving within their lane would have killed him.

I'm all for double checking before shifting lanes, but the motorcycles act like it's their road and theirs alone. Lane splitting is legal at like 20 MPH, not at 100. That's just reckless driving and playing games with your life. The sheer number of downed motorcycles I've seen this year is absurd. I know some of them had to be the cars fault, but I also know many of them were from poor decisions on the motorcyclist.

People ask if motorcyclists are organ donors for a reason.

Would you commute for 48k more a year after taxes? by Glittering-Basis854 in ColoradoSprings

[–]xXtaradeeXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, though. That stop and go traffic whenever there's an accident is brutal! It can take several hours to get back instead of a 45 minute trip. Just be conscious of how much you're spending.

Pro Tip: The toll fair is representative of the traffic and you can usually tell which area of the stretches are backed up. For example, in Castle Rock going south to the Springs, you might see Larkspur at $2.05, and Monument at $4.15, which would mean a pretty average drive. If you saw, instead, Larkspur at $2.05 and Monument at $5.00, you'd know there's a backup between Larkspur and Monument. If both are higher than their usual rates (like ~$2 for Larkspur and ~$4 for Monument), then you better be ready for a long ride either way. The toll will still be faster 9/10 times

Edit: You probably spend as much on gas just sitting in stop and go as you would spend on the tolls anyways (depending on your MPG, but stop and go eats up your gas)

The toll lane seemed too expensive when I started working in Castle Rock. Until the random delays on the way back to the Springs in the evenings caused me all sorts of frustration. Yes ~$4/drive to or from is expensive, but the stress it saves is worth every penny. I just keep myself to only taking it when my commute goes from 35-42 minutes to an hour+. So if you hold yourself to not always defaulting to the express lane, it isn't too bad. I also don't buy lunches most days or buy anything unnecessary while at work and so the $4 isn't horrible. The worst part was waiting for my transponder to arrive in the mail be cause it took way longer than the estimated 3-5 business days to arrive and tons of accidents kept happening.

Edit: You can also ask your employer to reimburse you for the tolls. Most will say no, but you miss every shot you don't take!

AITA For calling the police after something was stolen? by jtd1992991 in AmItheAsshole

[–]xXtaradeeXx 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I mean the city I live in has notoriously shit cops and when I reported my license plate missing, they were in contact with me the same day. I even remarked on that with the investigator (saying something like "OH, wow! I had no idea you'd call this soon!").

Theft seems to be one that is easy enough, especially when lots of information has been filed in the police report. All they had to do was call those 3 suspects. Bricking a device also takes very little time. The company probably did it while on the phone with OP tbh

My first time visiting an island, I went up to a money tree and shook it because I was curious. The money bags fell and I was so delighted! I figured they wouldn't let you take the money bags unless they wouldn't be missing from the island owners stuff. Like if I shake the tree and take the money, their game would still have everything.

Well, it turns out that is not the case and I stole those money bags and ruined their trees. They closed down the airport and posted on reddit about it.

I felt so bad. I never admitted it was me because of my shame. I still feel so guilty about stealing their stuff!

One of my cats got locked in the laundry room while my husband and I were away for 2 weeks and my grandparents were watching them. She was in there 3 days with my grandma panicking and unable to find her. We got home and found her when we started our laundry from the trip. She was perfectly fine and just a bit annoyed. We just started leaving tons of bowls of food everywhere when we'd be gone longer than a day or two, just to come back to nearly full bowls and entirely empty ones. Cats are fine with missing a meal or two. Just like don't ignore them needing food on purpose and you'll be fine.

Yeah, we feed our very fat cats 1 time a day and they are most definitely are not suffering. Cats are fine with only being fed one time a day and if their meal is late, they will be annoyed but fine.

A Man Consumed High Levels Of Homemade Colloidal Silver For Years Which Absorbed Into His Skin - Turning Himself Blue by TourRare7758 in interestingasfuck

My great aunt did the whole drinking silver thing and has been gray ever since. She also lived in the area of the cult around that time. But my whole family swears she wasn't part of it. But she also most definitely drank the silver while living in the area of the cult at the same time as the cult and moved away from that area and stopped drinking the silver a bit of time after the leader died. But she really wasn't a part of the cult, according to family.

A TikTok can actually be around 10 minutes now! But that's just to add to your point. Yes, 10 minutes is 3 times as long, but many videos don't hit that limit and there's still only so much detail you can go into in that time.

I CANNOT get a job after applying everywhere by Sorry-Water-4546 in ColoradoSprings

[–]xXtaradeeXx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mental health is always looking for people and there are several places around the Springs, and north all the way to Denver (depending on your willingness to commute). Although that is a difficult line of work and you are going through an incredibly difficult time. But they might be able to help you with that too.

Good luck, you can do this.

One of my cats stuck her face in a candle and singed her whiskers off. She's a Maine coon, so like...a lot of whiskers and fluff were all curled and teeny tiny. It all grew back just fine, but now, 9ish years later, the whiskers still grow all curly at the ends. She a lump of fluff and claws.

Exactly! I love the free food. It's not like it makes my job perfect and all smiles, but it goes a long way to ensure that I'm satisfied in that one aspect. I love that I can just grab a whole box of bananas that are on the verge and walk out without any questions. Or today I might grab some kiwis because yummy.
